I'm a computer professional. Was sure that Netgear would have fixed any problems with this router with updated software. I was correct. Have owned several Netgear routers/modem routers, all with great success. Range on the Wireless N is superb, and the Gigabit ports are extremely fast and flawless. I have sharing on another Netgear router, so USB support was not important to me. This one just extended the range of my home network.
This is an easy to use router. The default configuration will work for most home applications. The only thing a person should do is name their router (SSID) and change the default channel. This is easy to do once connected to the router. Since NetGear RangMax WNR854T has chosen to use a standard IP address for the units it is easy to configure with your internet browser. Also if you get the unit used, a simple "reset" will clear the unit back to it's default configuration so ADMIN as ID and PASWORD as password to set up hassles free. Also you can use CD to set uo if you get one. You can also go to the website and set it up. This is a wireless "N" unit with fo...Read full reviewur (4) 10/100/1000 ethernet ports. This gives a max link speed of 54 Mbits (wireless) and 1000 Mbits (direct connect). That's it. If you don't have wifi or are using a wireless b/g or n, I suggest you get one it is a great upgrade.
Thanks for your time.
Works seamlessly. Gigabit connections are a great plus, and so is 300mbps wireless internet. Much faster than what I had for even cheaper than a G router at Walmart. You won't regret buying this one.
This instance of this product did not work. I do believe there was something physically wrong with this particular item. Netgear has a great reputation for making excellent networking hardware. Unfortunately this one must have some internal hardware issues that have not been fixed under the warranty before putting it up for sale.
I gave it 5 stars for value and features on the premise that if it had worked properly, it would indeed have been a great value.
loved the simplicity of setting this Netgear Wi-Fi Router up. So pleased with my Netgear Wi-Fi I had in use that I bought RangeMax as a upgrade.
