Enjoyable enough

I first became aware of this film in around mid-1998. I was a big "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" fan, and it had just been announced that Canadian actress Nicole deBoer had joined the cast for the last season as Ezri Dax. Keeping up with the sci-fi magazines as I did back then, I had plenty of opportunties to read her resume in the news pages, but living in the UK, not much of a chance to see any of them. In the end, the only film I could track down on VHS was a rental copy of "National Lampoons Senior Trip", made in 1995. Nicole was about ten names down on the list of cast for this film, none of whom were what you would call household names or A-listers. With so many actors in the cast, this films somewhat like an ensemble piece, but it is also why a lot of the characters get sidetracked and shunted to the background. If I was to sit down and count Miss deBoer's contribution to the movie it would come to something like 10 lines and just being in the background on the bus dancing and partying away. The only useful thing about her character was imparted by two other people - that she is gay. I wasn't that impressed with her at all to be honest, but I did quite like the movie as a whole.

If there is a star of the movie it is probably Matt Frewer as the school principal Todd Moss. Most people remember him for the short-lived TV series "Max Headroom". Co-star Valerie Mahaffey who plays teacher Miss Milford had previously won an Emmy for "Northern Exposure", while one half of the hippy 70s comedy duo Cheech & Chong, Tommy Chong, doesn't veer too far away from his real-life persona by playing the dope-smoking bus driver 'Red'. Of the kids, Jeremy Renner gets most screen-time as 'Dags'.

Almost every stereotypical school teenager is here - the nerd, the fat kid, etc., a dsyfunctional group who get invited to Washington DC to meet the president and have one big long party along the way. Clever it isn't, but it is quite funny at times. As a "Star Trek" fan myself, I did get something of a kick out of Kevin McDonald's demented 'crossing guard' character Travis who has a replica of the starship Enterprise in his garage and a blow-up sex doll dressed as Lieutenant Uhura.

Many years later I've finally been able to replace my VHS version of this film with a DVD, and it's still reasonably entertaining. It's not the best film to ever come out of the "National Lampoon" studio, but its not the worst either - a pleasant enough way to spend ninety minutes of your life. 6/10

i love this movie

jeremy renner is HILARIOUS and an amazing actor!! senior trip is definitely radical. but then again, most national lampoon movies are.

National Lampoon's Senior Trip

This is one of my favorite comedies of all time - and I am way past my teens, haha. I can't think of a single moment in this movie that isn't laugh out loud hilarious. The casting is perfect, the characters are defined well, and the acting is great. Even "Chong" from Cheech and Chong has an extremely funny part which could have been actually written FOR him, lol. I traded this movie away for another movie years ago (in one of my more unwise moments in life - ) and have now jumped at the chance to add it back to my collection. It's staying there this time.

National Lampoons Senior Trip

This is worth seeing. Very funny movie! These kids know how to have fun. This movie is another good classic act from Tommy Chong. If you like National Lampoons movies this is one of there better movies.

The title should say it all

I think this is a funny movie and I have wanted it for as long as I can remember. It was really hard to find until I started using ebay. I found it in like two seconds. I have wanted to own it for a while now. I am just so glad that I did find it and it is now part of my movie collection.
