| Introduced in 1977 and completely revised in 1994, these bestselling photographic field guides have become the birding bibles of more than four million enthusiasts. Virtually every bird found in North America is brought to life in a full-color photograph and with textual information on the bird's voice, nesting habits, habitat, range, and interesting behaviors. Accompanying range maps; overhead flight silhouettes; sections on bird-watching, accidental species, and endangered birds make these the most comprehensive field guides to birds available. Note: the Eastern Edition generally covers states east of the Rocky Mountains, while the Western Edition covers the Rocky Mountain range and all the states to the west of it. | |

I really like the book (National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Birds ) I think it will help alot teaching chidren.
This is a very informative, quick and easy to use reference guide that has good color pictures and wonderful references to many North American birds. Not every one is listed in here but I found many to most are. It has been my field guide since I was a child using my mom's. Without it, I would be very lost as to what kinds of birds are in my area. I also love it's compact size instead of being a big, bulky, hard to carry around study guide. I haven't found it's equal or better yet. I use mine every year and I think every household should own a copy. A great family resource tool.
The difinitive field guide for North American birds. If you're looking for a field guide for birdwatching, then this is the guide you want.
I like the Audubon Field Guide for its compactness and completeness. It's a good portable compromise between the depth of a large volume and the sometimes sketchy content of a smaller book. It's actually a replacement for one of many books that I lost in a total-loss house fire; and the quality of this particular book was as good as advertised or better.
The definitive reference book for Eastern U.S. bird-watchers. The color photos and the in-depth descriptions of each bird and their habitats enhance the usefulness of this guide. Convenient, handy, and a must-have book for birders.
