Product Information
NBA Live 09 offers new features designed to enhance the controls and on-court action you'll experience while managing your favorite pro basketball team. One of the more distinctive additions is "dynamic DNA," which focuses on real-life behaviors or tendencies of teams and individual players. Statistical data on each NBA game is transferred to NBA Live 09 on a daily basis. If a player goes on a cold streak in real life, his ratings will be adjusted within the game. If a player prefers to shoot from a specific spot on the court, his behavior will be reflected in his digital counterpart.

To take advantage of this dynamic DNA feature, which is optional, you have to be connected online. Other PlayStation Network features include five-on-five online play, which supports ten players on ten separate consoles, and custom leagues, which feature drafts, trades, and a single-elimination playoff structure. Users can also record footage of their most impressive slams or buzzer-beaters and upload the highlights to the publisher's EA Sports World service. Those who aren't interested in online play will notice several tweaks in the game's controls on both offense and defense.

Pick and rolls can now be implemented by controlling both the ball handler and screener via on-court cues. "Quick strike ankle breakers" involve faking out defenders by tapping the turbo button and nudging the analog stick, while "lockdown control" improves defense by giving you the option to shut down a leading scorer. NBA Live 09 also continues the role-playing like "Be a Pro" mode first offered in NHL 09. As in the hockey title, you play a single athlete on the court while gradually building his stats and abilities over time. Rounding out the feature list is an interactive practice facility called the NBA Academy and an expanded FIBA tournament with 24 national teams.

The most average or below average nba game yet.

    Pros
    1. Multiplayer (I only say this is a pro because apparently nba 2k9 is 1 player.)
    2. Players look and shoot how they do in real life.\
    3. 3 point contest and Dunk contest are fun when bored with the game.

    Cons.
    1. If player is hurt in real life, you can't use that player in "play now". If you opt to use default rosters, then whoever was traded early in the season will still be on original team.
    2. No halftime show, highlights, recap, end of game recap, nothing.
    3. Game takes forever to load.
    4. One thing you can do is shoot around in the gym (like a practice) during loading and when you first turn on the game (which seems pretty cool at first), but then you think how much better it would be if you could guard another player, pass another player the ball, block shots, play a two on two game or something. I don't even shoot around anymore.
    5. In gameplay, you hardly ever know if your shot counts as a 3 or 2. After the shot is made, nowhere on the screen does it say 2 points or 3 points, annoucers usually dont say anything, and rarely if your the home team the crowd will shout "3!" if you shoot one. This annoys me.
    6. On average, there are about 15 blown layups per game for each team.
    7. Free throws are boring and you make literally 99% of them.
    8. Most of the time when its a 1 on 1 opportunity the player on defense does not guard the player with the ball but stands there and waits for his man or for the player with the ball to come into his zone.
    9. The easiest way to score is to press the ball up the floor as soon as possible (almost every time relates in an easy layin).
    10. Sometimes after timeouts, your entire team is caught standing by the bench or guarding the wrong side of the court which translates into an easy basket for the other team.
    11. You can dribble the ball upcourt and drive with shaq as if he was kobe bryant.
    12. My friend and I had more fun playing nba 2k4 than this game.
    13. I'm sure theres more...

Overall, this game turned out to be a real disappointment. I wish I would have listened to more reviews before actually buying this game. If 2k10 is still only 1 player, then I'm going to try NCAAB 2010.

    Really Fun Gameplay!!

This game is really fun to play. The game got closer to real life gameplay, mainly in the sense of the way the offense moves, the players are constantly moving to the right places. One think I don't like is how the wing players (SG and SF) tend to take one step inside the three point line when you kick it out to them from the post. But if you have good wing players that can drive it won't really make a difference, but I like to make threes, not take long 2-pointers. I love the driving ability of players in this game, and also the defense against the drive, that might be what is most realistic about the game. The finishes at the basket are not as realistic, but it works for me. I decided to buy this game because I had heard more good things about it rather than bad things. I bought this game simply because I didn't have a basketball game for my PS3. I have always bought EA sports games and will continue to. I've played the 2k10 games, but just haven't been as satisfied with the graphics more than anything. Anyone who buys NBA Live 09, and the later versions, will really enjoy their purchase.

    NBA Live 09 PS3

You are either an EA fan or a 2K fan. I myself like EA. I like the improvements to online updating to stay current with hot and cold players along with transactions. There are a few more play modes cool additions as well. My only con with the game is the graphics, not that the graphics are bad just being on the 360 or the PS3 I expect top notch graphics, I think they could get more detail and a more polished look. And you would think they could make the damn thing load faster by now. Come on! I would say buy it.

    VERY NICE!

NBA Live 09’s visuals have received as much attention as the gameplay, and for perhaps the first time since 2004, EA has a better-looking game than 2K. Character models are absolutely gorgeous, with faces and body scaling that match the real-life counterparts perfectly, realistic sweat (a hallmark of EA’s character models), and convincing textile textures on jerseys and shorts. The players look even better in motion, with some of the most realistic animations in all of sports gaming. Watching players run up court, you’ll see them backpedal, point to each other and realistically move their heads to view the position of everyone on the court. The high standard even makes its way to the coaches, who look better than in any game ever. The first time you see Denver Nuggets head coach, George Karl, you’ll be sure to say “hey, that’s John Lithgow!” In case you're wondering, that’s a compliment to the game’s fidelity. The effect is truly impressive, and combined with the broadcast-style camera, makes for a visual presentation that could easily be mistaken for a real game at first glance. During cut-scenes and occasionally during the game, the game will unexpectedly load from the disc, causing significant slowdown. It’s a noticeable and unpleasant black mark on an otherwise spectacular visual experience.
