This film has something for everyone in the family. The Muppet cast, Sesame Street characters,Fraggles and great human actors like Jim Henson. There are differing levels of humor so it appeals to all ages. The vignettes are true to the Muppet Show format. They contain many memorable one-liners like the Swedish chef thinking Big Bird is a turkey and calling him "Gobla, gobla humonga!!" The upbeat forms of the Christmas carols make it just all around wonderful. It is not Christmas at our house without it.
I believe this version is uncut, a full 47 minutes. The edited version is still very enjoyable.
Muppet Family Christmas is an exciting holiday movie, perfect for the family. Jim Henson incorporated The fun loving muppets with characters from sesame street and fraggle rock.
Why did I buy this... it's simple. It's one of hte best holiday movies out there, it's just too bad that this movie is rare to find. It should definetly be restored and be available in stores.
The Muppet Family Christmas is by far one of the best speceils i have watched. I love all the songs and All of Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock and Muppet Show Charecters come together for the Holidays. The Thing i didn't like is the fact that Snuffy and Hoots the Owl weren't in the speceil and that the fraggles should of joind in on medley at the end. But all in all it is a great one
This movie is the best of all Jim Henson! It includes the muppets, the characters of Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock & Jim Henson himself. It has been a favourite of mine since I was child. I highly recommend to families who care about the content of what their children watch. Fun to watch all year round for the entire family.
The story starts with Fozzie taking Kermit & the muppets to his mother's house for the holidays, unannounced. Shes planning a vacation & rents the house to Doc & Sprocket (Fraggles). Just as hes getting to know the muppets, the cast of Sesame Street join them & the house gets a little crowded. Almost everyone has joined them, except for Miss Piggy, who is off doing a model shoot & shopping. Meanwhile, Robin explores the house & meets the Fraggles who share their own holiday traditions with him. In the end, Jim Henson keeps a watchful eye over his friends & family.
I first watched the TV special "A Muppet Family Christmas" back in 1987 with our (then) 2 sons. The next year our 3rd little boy was born... and the tradition of watching this moving together is always anticipated. My original copy was taped off of the TV and somehow during a recent move was lost. It was very difficult to find in stores and the DVD's I did find were very expensive.. so I went with the good old VHS. The picture and sound are clear. Now our sons are 30, 27 and 22 and I'm blessed to have a granddaughter so we can begin to share the tradition with her as well. My sons and I still randomly quote phrases from the movie such as "Watch out for the icy patch" and "It's cold enough to freeze your Winnebago!" (But I guess you have to watch the movie 100 times to "get it"!)
To anyone reading this, please consider purchasing this heart warming Holiday gem with your whole family. Merry Christmas!!! ~Janie
