The Motorola V950 has a sturdy, intuitive design with a crisp display and ergonomic controls. Its feature set is admirable and it offers good call and music quality.
The Motorola V950's streaming-video quality is poor and internal memory is small.
It's not a video handset, but the Motorola V950 is a great rugged cell phone for making calls.

Durability is great for a flip phone. Web browsing is everything I need. I take loads of pics/video from my phone constantly. You can always upgrade the amount of memory by buying a larger micro SD card. GPS, turn by turn Navigation has gotten me out of a bind once or twice. It also features an On Demand area where you can check sports, weather, finance, ect. Weather updates are very important to how I plan my days. I also never miss my favorite shows from USA network because I can look them up and watch full episodes right from my phone while waiting to check out at the grocery store. Also, the battery that it comes with is good/fair. But if you use some of the features that I have mentioned, it will not last an entire 24 hours on one charge which is inconvenient as heck, but ebay also offers an extended battery pack w/ battery door. I used everything available to me on this phone for a day and a half and still had a partial charge. So if you are going to just make calls you are fine. If you are like me and wish to text, picturemail, email, watch tv, listen to mp3 player, then I would get the extended batt. pack. I also love that it is coated w/ a rubber gripping not as easy to drop, but when you do drop it, it doesn't shatter.
You have a LARGE Screen, and a large exterior screen. The speaker gets plenty loud, headset is recommended if not alone. you can also run the mp3 player with the phone closed, for there are buttons on the exterior surface that allow you to play pause, or skip tracks.
Camera is awesome for a phone, it Does have a working flash, but you should set it to auto or whatever setting is appropriate for you. Sometimes the flash will wash out the pic depending on light.
I love my renegade, hope you like it too.
This is by far the best phone I have ever purchased, it has a lot of great features that are important to me. The Music Store(purchasing music through Sprint), Music Transfer-downloading music from your computer(requires USB cable), GREAT speaker phone, large external LCD, great camera with FLASH!(how many of the newer phones have a flash with the camera?-Essential for good picture taking), mp3 player with incredible sound from the speaker-Music Transfer allows a much louder sound of your songs, while playing your music from the Music Store has a more limited volume allowance. SMS voice messaging is another nice feature of this phone, it allows you to send a recorded message to someone without having to call them, very convenient. It's the best "basic" phone I have seen(A phone that doesn't require me to change my old plan to a Smart Phone Plan). Compared to what Sprint has in their stores as far as "basic" phones, this phone is far better than anything they have now, not even close. THIS IS NOT A NEWER SMART PHONE, it has the older technology, but I love it, I love flip phones too, and this phone is not that big either. If you are in a similar situation like mine, where you have an older plan & don't want to pay a lot more for a newer plan, & you don't need all these new "Apps" that you end up paying way too much for, this phone is the answer. It also comes with a great quality clip(made in usa), much better quality than the one's they sell in the store for $20 or more. I replaced the Kyocera Dura XT with this phone(another rugged basic phone that doesn't require me to change my pan that is one of the very few basic phones that Sprint has to offer in their stores), & this Motorola Renegade v950 is WAY WAY better! The only thing that I've noticed that this phone doesn't have, that the newer basic phones have, are preloaded smiley faces to insert in your text messages. This is a minor difference that I can live with, but it doesn't come anywhere near all the advantages that The Renegade has over the rest of the current Sprint basic phones. The signal is also excellent on this phone, as well as the sound quality, which is another very important feature to me, I have been told many times that the Sanyo phones work the best on the Sprint network as far as best signal, but that was before the Motorola phones came back to Sprint several years ago. This is the best phone that I have used on the Sprint network as far as reception-signal, and sound quality. Hey, why lose your old, more affordable plan because you don't like the basic phones that Sprint has to offer? Pick this phone up through Ebay, new, I bought 2 of them now-$65.00 each, no tax, free shipping, no 2 year upgrade contract added to my account! Best decision I've made in a while. I hope this feedback helps you
This phone I recently purchased a few days ago, and I have to say I'm impressed with the features on it . For example very good screen size , text messaging , gps , camera is exellent. Also has intenent broswing and file storage in phone is I think the best feature with memorycard upgrade . In any other case I would strongly recomend this phone to a friend or anyone looking for a durable military grade phone like this. I have to give it a 4 1/2 due to used condition but new would be like 5 star no doubt.
I'm reviewing the 1st v950 I purchased, so I have to give a somewhat negative review. I was a little surprised by this feature-packed phone especially for a Motorola flip; but I had to end up returning it for what seemed to be a software glitch that could not be corrected by master reset or software updates. After 2 weeks of use (and never dropped the phone even once) vibrate feature just quit working for phone calls. But it vibrated for emails and texts, and when I powered it up. I double-checked settings and tried everything possible to correct it before returning it. I am awaiting it's replacememt now. If I had a choice, I would have gone with a ic902 instead. I found out after receiving the v950 that the new Direct Connect technology it uses, Qchat is not yet available in my area. Also, the ic902 just has a more comfortable feel in my hand; the v950, even though padded with rubber, feels like a rubber block. I had to get another v950 as a replacement only because I used the MobieSync feature with Sprint.com and the ic902 doesn't support that feature; so I need another v950 (or other MobieSync phone) in order to retrieve my updated contacts from Sprint.com; otherwise I lose everything I edited. In the end, I would say to get this phone, just buy the insurance! I will this 2nd go-round.
I love this phone from all it's features to it's durability and soft feel. The screen is nice and bright and the picture quality is wonderful! It is a fast phone. The Navigation for this phone is pretty awesome. You can search for nearby stores, gas stations, shopping malls ect. then you pick one and it will take you there from your current location. There is nothing I would complain about this phone! I love it!
The Motorola Renegade V950 is the tough, military spec phone designed for the way you really live. It's made to look great, take punishment, and get the job done. It's super fast, and built for excitement with music, TV, pictures, video, two big high-res screens and great stereo sound.
