One of the best smartphones on the market.

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

This is one of the best devices on the market, especially for people who really need a physical qwerty keyboard to message and do work. This device is well designed, sturdy, runs on very fast internal components, and full of features.

Device's design has a very artsy industrial look that is also very ergonomic. It feels great in the hand with its thin profile (the thinnest slider I've had) and rubber grip finish on the back. The sliding mechanism is very sturdy and will stand the test of time, in fact, a little to much so for some people's taste and needs some force to operate. The addition of the micro-hdmi port is very welcomed, and works well with any flat-panel TV if you have a decent adapter cord. The battery back is also very tight, and takes some effort to get off. There is a lot of built in storage (16GB), but it also comes with a micro-sd card slot for expansion; and there is also a global sim card, for those people who need GSM connection abroad.

The display is brilliant, and brightest yet that I have used on a phone. The pentile display is slightly noticable when displaying texts, since the pixels are arranged diagonally if you look really closely, so vertical lines are not as sharp. But the diagonal lines actually look better than on a regular TFT display, and pictures and videos on this thing definitely looks better than on the older WVGA displays. The screen is high resolutioned enough that you won't notice any aliasing of vertical lines unless you look closely, so the pentile display is not really an issue for me.

The call quality is very good, and microphone noise cancellation works really well. The voice quality on the microphone on this device is much higher than the iPhone4, which occasionally has some distortion of sounds. The speaker is not that loud, so you may have trouble hearing ring-tones in noisy places like a night-club. If you are buying screen protectors, choose carefully; some 3rd party screen protectors blocks the proximity sensor, and may as a result cause you trouble when bringing the phone up to your face.

The capacitive touch screen is very sensitive, as are the touch sensitive buttons. The screen often responds to small amount of static electricity, such as hovering your finger very close to the screen, which sometimes will register as a touch; the same with the buttons. The software layers on this phone is not as bad as motoblur, but still has a lot of room for improvement. There is a lot of animation and 3D effects on the home screens, and with apps opening and closing. If you find them too much (some people do), then install an alternative launcher from the android market. The motions are fluid for the UI, and there is generally very little lag; with the exception of the camera and camcorder apps, exiting which will cause a long lag in reloading the home screen.

The keyboard is the 2nd best I have ever used on a phone, and I have used over a dozen slider phones over the years. The best is probably sidekick 4G from t-mobile, but this one comes in as a close second. The keyboard is large, and keys well spaces; the layout is very logical and easy to reach; the additional numbers key row is definitely making entering certain things a lot easier. The keys have relatively good travel, and touch typing on this phone is very easy. This phone is great for people who text and message a lot, such as me; I personally send over 3000 texts a month minimum.

very good

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

I liked the phone as a whole, I use it in Russia without any problems with the operator. Picture it makes even very good, as can be said about the filming! For me, 11Gb of memory is enough. You can add the optional memory card! By disassembling phones knows quite simple. Without any problem can be replaced by touch screen, keyboard, camera, 8MP, and more. The same can be said that this phone is easy and can be stitched in any way to revert to the standard firmware, even if it does not load on splash! The battery I purchased separately, although the phone holding a charge consistently.  I am quite pleased with this phoneОтменить изменения

Excellente product! made for techies and noobies alike. U wont regret it!

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

This THE BEST phone with slide keyboard. What can i say the power of the 2 core the smooth of the feel and the way it can be customized. There are 2 things you must know about the phone the main camera lacks quality, compare to the 5Mp camera that i had on my Nokia n97. The battery life is not superior to an Iphone. But the whole of the package makes you forget both cons. The battery life I puchased an extra battery cost me les than $15.00 and is always charged for a really long trip.
The ease of use and the manufacturer quality (i love the feel of metal in my hand) is awesome. The slide mecanism for the keyboard feels strong but like every slide phone it will wear out so i only use it when i know i will be writing alot.
A friend of mine has the Samsung Galaxy Glide, but that phone leave much to desire. Is all plastic and the keyboard its weird to put it in a word, plus it only has 5MP camera altough the photo quality is equal to my Droid.
I've always buy Nokia and Motorola mobile, because both buid excelente products. Sadly Nokia drop Symbian and went in other direction instead of launching Android products, so the choise was clear and believme is worth it every penny.
Last if you are an enthusiast of Android give it a try (it will work with clockwork mode), but if you are and enthusiast of latest in technology you must have this phone. I know that 3 months from now this review will be outdated due to the speed carriers and manufacturers launch their products. I intend for this product to last at least 2 years, soon it will available the latest firmware Ice cream sandwich and this phone can and it will be upgraded to that version. So thats another advantge.

Great phone with great features and some of the newest tech out there!

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

I came to the Droid 3 from the Thunderbolt and can honestly say that I'm not disappointed. While I did loose some nice features such as the ability to use voice/data simultaneously, overall I definitely love the switch. I don't currently live in an area that has 4G coverage, so loosing that isn't a big deal either. I love the physical keyboard and it's been VASTLY improved over the original Droid and even the Droid 2. The new dual core processor is also a huge leap forward and is very snappy and responsive. It makes things run much smoother and quicker. The new qHD display is nothing short of awesome either. While some may say it's no Retina display, I have looked at both and honestly thing it looks just as good as the Retina display in the iPhones. Plus, it's much better at creating crisp, clear images on your screen when outdoors..I've never seen a phone with a display that looked so good in direct sunlight. The only real complaints I had about this phone, such as the blue tint on all the images/videos you take with the phone, has been cleared up via an OTA update via Motorola. After the update, the images look great and the video is amazing (1080p looks great). Many people made complaints about the battery life on the Droid 3 (although again, coming from the Thunderbolt, it was an upgrade for me), but that too was "fixed" with the newest OTA update and the battery life is staggering now. I unplug my phone at approximately 6 AM every morning before I head to work. By the time I get home at around 4, I have AT LEAST half the battery level left (since the update, its been averaging closer to 3/4 of the battery life remaining). Can't ask for more than that in my opinion. The call quality on the Droid 3 has been pretty good as well in my experience. The Thunderbolt was a little louder as far as the earpiece goes, but it also distorted the sound of the other person's voice more in turn. The earpiece on the Droid 3 is a little on the quiet side, especially if you're in a loud area such as an airport, but it's clarity is right up there. The speakerphone is very loud and also has a good clear sound to it as well. Overall, I have to admit that I do miss the ability to use voice and data at the same time, but that's the only thing that I miss from my Thunderbolt. Other than that, I've never looked back. If you live in a 4G coverage area, you may want to consider the new Droid Bionic (if you can afford the additional $100), but if you're like me and live in an area with only 3G coverage anyway, I'd say you'll be more than happy with your choice if you go with the Droid 3!

Don't buy it unless you can find it cheap. Makes a nice MP3 palyer at best

No, I would not recommend this product.

I originally bought this phone because on paper, it looks like a true powerhouse. The device has a 1 GHZ dual core processor, 512 MB of ram (the same a xbox 360 or PS3 has), and a pretty decent battery (1540 mh/h).

So, with the basic specs out of the way, let me start with whats good about this device (Don't worry, this wont take long): It has great phone quality on both sides, above average signal reception, the screen is very responsive and accurate, the keyboard is probably one of the best on the market, and its a global phone.

But then comes the problems. With the biggest one being Motorola's "Motoblur" software. The software is highly inefficient, and very limiting. On average i had about 80MB of free ram running with nothing open! With just facebook and skype open i would sometimes be as low as 20-30 MB free. Even after rooting the device, and removing verizons bloatware, i usually sat between 100 and 160 MB free with nothing open.

Not only is the stock software an awful mess, but the device also has a locked bootoader (which motorola claims verizon wants), meaning that it is very difficult to get any custom roms on the device. Also, on the note of custom roms: There arn't many (good ones). The 3rd party support for this device is very low (and how can you blame them? Look how many variations of the droid are on verizon at any time).

Which also leads to another point: This phone is already dead. It is getting to future updates from motorola or verizon, and has already been replaced by a "Droid 4". This device is NOT getting Android 4.0 (ICS).

So as a quick conclusion, this is a nice phone if all you want to do is make phone calls and text. But beyond that, it would be hard for me to buy another unless i found it at a low price point (sub $200).
