The trouble with making any kind of Motley Crue documentary or writing a book about the Crue is that the story is still being written. Books and documentaries (like VH1's Behind the Music - Motley Crue)like to end on a POSTIVE NOTE (everyone is clean and sober, happily married, not in trouble with the law, etc.), or at least in a way that implies the worst is now behind them and their story can now be told. With Motley Crue, this is simply not the case. Nikki's marriage to Donna was not a "happily ever after" tale as the "Behind the Music" documentary implied. And it is not clear if certain members will EVER get along. We may have to wait until they're dead to make the DEFINITIVE Motley Crue BTM.
However, having said that, my wife and I enjoyed VH1's production. Unlike other documataries, we got to hear from all members of the band and having read "The Dirt" (which I highly recommend), they told their story (up to THAT point) as well as they could have. All and all, a must-see for any SERIOUS Crue fan and non-fans will find it interesting as well (just watching the show may be enough to make anyone a fan).
I'm sure my opinion is biased since I think Motley Crue is the best rock band ever!!!!!! I love anything that has footage of any of the guys. This DVD really is good though. If you've watched it and you still crave more details, read "The Dirt." You won't believe the things they've seen and done.
This is an awesome video! No real concert/song performances, just the most interesting stories of the wildest boys I have ever seen or could imagine!
It was hard to take a break from this video-- Not only was I laughing 1/2 the time and shocked the other 1/2, but it made me nostalgic and happy to have been a part of the 80's, and living in LA and remembering their influence there. I dont know if any one else has lived a decade of such insanity and fun, while at the same time enjoyed such incredible business success. All I can say is: its a miracle that any of them lived to be talking about it. It was also great to hear each one; Nikki, vince, Tommy, & Mick give their personal accounts of that time, and to get a glimpse of their true individual personalities. I love this video--recommend it very highly if you love these bad boys!
Its a Great DVD! Very Entertaining, just like you seen it back in the day on VH1 except no interuptions.. its an instant Classic! must have Rock Video! 5 STARS ALL THE WAY!
