Movie synopsis
In the 11th installment of the 007 series, director Lewis Gilbert delivers a visually thrilling progression in filmmaking. Roger Moore returns as dashing secret service agent James Bond. This time around Bond must investigate the theft of a space shuttle with help from beautiful CIA agent Dr. Holly Goodhead (Lois Chiles) and sexy Euro supermodel Corrine (Corrine Clery). Agent 007 discovers that genocidal maniac-millionaire Hugo Drax (Michel Lonsdale) plans to poison all of humanity from outer space and repopulate earth with only the most perfectly bred humans. A variety of traps and villains awaits Bond, including the recurring character Jaws (Richard Kiel, also featured in THE SPY WHO LOVED ME).Filmed in such exotic locations as Southern California, Venice, and the Amazon, Gilbert delivers the formula Bond packet of girls, gadgets, and guns. However, he also goes further, sending Agent 007 into space. MOONRAKER takes great risks in blending the spy and science fiction genres. In spite of such an unruly coupling, the film rewards viewers with its finale of climactic plot twists and stellar special effects.

Excellent movie but not nearly the best of Bond

A good movie, has a great story and keeping with the Bond formula, this 11th Bond movie has a mastermind villian, cheesy one-liners and tons of great Bond gadgets. It's no surprise 007 blasts into space in this film given the recent success of Star Wars and Star Trek The Motion Picture and many elements are borrowed from those films suck as laser guns. Certainly not among the best 5 or so Bond movies but about in the middle of the pack, the special effects are great for the time but what drops this for me from being 5/5 is a couple ridiculous scenes including a boat/car chase. Also Jaws returns for his second appearance but it is not nearly as good as his scenes in the previous Bond flick, The Spy Who Loved Me. Definitely worth the price of admission, this is a typical Bond, so if you like 007 then you can't go wrong. For casual Bond fans this film is about the middle of the pack and you would be better off with The Spy Who Loved Me or On Her Majesty's Secret Service or any of the Connery ones.

One of the best Bond movies ever!

This Bond movie goes where no others have gone before, in outer space! The opening sequence, where Bond is trown outside of an airplane without a parachute, is the best opnening of all time. With the return of Jaws, his 7 foot tall arch enemi, Bond goes all over the world (Venice, Rio, Brasil) and in space too, to foil the plan of evil Hugo Drax. This movie does not take itself seriously, it's just plain fun and exciting, with great stunts. Roger Moore is at his best. The special features are also great, explaning the making of this Bond film. The booklet is also full of information that will please most Bond fans. This now out of print DVD is highly recommended!

Not Rocket Science :-)

If you're reading this, you no doubt love Bond films and have seen this movie many times. The widescreen Blu Ray is what will be new and refreshing for you. The digital remastering is superb! It all looks and sounds great, especially considering when the movie was made. The bonus material is really cool too. Lots of on set interviews, and beind the scenes footage...all great stuff if you are into that. I suppose I will always favor this particular James Bond movie, as it was the first one I actually saw in the theatre at age 12. I am a big NASA fan, and really enjoyed seeing the shuttles used in the movie. Sure it was all make believe, but it made for a fun movie!

All that being said, we are all aware that movies like this are not actual rocket science! Once you get past that little snag, this is a really great Bond film! There's tons of action, lots of gadgets, and pretty girls everywhere. Roger Moore is suave and charming...just as Bond should be. There's plenty of romance about this movie...and not just the sexy stuff. The musical score is large and dramatic, and adds a romantic feel to most of the scenes. Example: Watching the Concorde glide into Rio as the movie's overture plays is just as beautiful to me as the myriad of blondes, brunettes, and redheads! Well...almost...lol!

Its a great movie...you can't go wrong purchasing this Blu Ray! Enjoy it!

One Of The Best Bond Movies Of All Time

Don't get me wrong, I loved every movie that Bond Made. I think Roger Moore was the best Bond they could have found. First off, he is ENGLISH, and he did a lot of his own stunts. It made the stunt team worried, that they would soon seek unemployment. This was the first time Bond would go into space to defeat the evil, HUGO DRAX.

Did I mention that one of the best Bond villians Jaws, got a speaking part in this movie. Jaws was the bad guy you loved to hate, and at the same time hated to love.

So, even though this is just my oppionion I find this and Goldfinger to be the 2 best Bond movies of all time.

Thanks For Reading my Review, and I hope you found it useful

Moonraker - The BEST BOND MOVIE MADE SO FAR

Perhaps the best James Bond 007 movie of all time. Roger Moore stars in a action-packed movie involving space-based weapons of mass destruction (e.g.- killing every human on earth). Full of action, sci-fi weapons, chases, and great humor throughout. The space battle towards the end makes this one of my top 5 movies ever.
