Editorial reviews

"As an actor, Brad Pitt has aged like a fine wine. In MONEYBALL, he's in classic, game-on movie-star mode..." -- Grade: A-
Entertainment Weekly - Owen Gleiberman (09/30/2011)

"Thoughtful and entertaining....Starring Brad Pitt in top movie star form, it's a film that's impressive and surprising."
Los Angeles Times - Kenneth Turan (09/30/2011)

4.5 stars out of 5 -- "This one is the shrewdest take on the game since Ron Shelton's BULL DURHAM and it has appeal that reaches beyond the ballpark."
Box Office - Pete Hammond (09/23/2011)

4 stars out of 4 -- "It rounds all the bases with grace, modesty and a surfeit of heart."
Washington Post (09/23/2011)

4 stars out of 5 -- "You'll be surprised how hard it grips....Miller essays a restraint that benefits the human moments weaved between the ballpark wheeling and dealing."
Total Film - Matthew Leyland (12/01/2011)

"A deeply American film about a uniquely American sport in which a principled guy takes on the moneyed titans because he can't stand the unfairness of what they're doing to the game he still loves."
Wall Street Journal (10/28/2011)

interesting premise, likable characters, good way to spend 2 hours.

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.
Review For: Moneyball (DVD, 2012)

given that i don't like baseball and the only 2 baseball-related movies i saw (field of dreams, a league of their own) bored me to tears, i was surprised at how much i liked this film.

the premise of viewing undervalued baseball players and how to classify them (sabermetrics) was new to me, and the human drama was very interesting. despite the fact that brad pitt's wig was distracting, and the parts about his ex-wife and child (put in to make him more likable, i guess) were superfluous, i really cared about billy beane and the oakland a's after this movie.

in fact, i checked out the moneyball book because of this movie because i wanted to know more about this situation.

highly recommend to anyone, just for the sheer entertainment value based on a real events, as well as thought-provoking views on how baseball (or anything else that can be measured) is run.

I LIKED IT. All the things we love about baseball. Funny charming Blunt!

Review For: Moneyball (DVD, 2012)

Baseball will always be the great American pastime.

For a sports film there might be better ones out there [past]. But I really enjoyed this film. Satisfying solid entertainment.

I found the approach appealing and a story that needed to be told. Pitt is excellent, as well as the supporting cast.

Funny, charming, touching and blunt if not brutal. All the things you love about baseball.

See it.

Here's to baseball, I love it.

Blessings, Max Rainet.

Not a traditional baseball movie, but still a great one.

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.
Review For: Moneyball (DVD, 2012)

Great movie well worth two hours. Brad Pitt is sharp as Billy Beane, although different than the book's picture. The movie glosses over the statistical ananlysis found in the book, but mixes in enough to give the flavor of the A's experiment. The smaller scenes are very real, especially the scenes with aging or marginal players struggling to hang on. Sometimes the dramatic clash between old school baseball guys and new school analysis guys is (almost comically) overdone, but it still works. It is not a traditional baseball movie: it takes the front office perspective which makes it harder to identify with the players.

Billy Beane Changed The Game Of Baseball!!

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.
Review For: Moneyball (DVD, 2012)

Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane (Brad Pitt) challenges the system and defies conventional wisdom when his is forced to rebuild his small-market team on a limited budget. Despite opposition from the old guard, the media, fans and their own field manager (Philip Seymour Hoffman), Beane - with the help of a young, number-crunching, Yale-educated economist (Jonah Hill) - develops a roster of misfits…and along the way, forever changes the way the game is played.

great movie about baseball

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

this is one of the best movies ever made about baseball, and you hardly ever see the sport getting played. brad pitt plays billy beane, the man who put together a championship oakland a's team with something like 50 bucks and a box of crackers. great movie to watch about baseball.
