Mizuno MP 37 irons. Std loft and lie, S-300 shafts.

The MP37s are an exceptional set of forgings. I moved from a fitted set of Titleist AP2s (2 degrees up plus 1/2 inch over) to the Mizunos. As the MP 37s (2-PW) are standard they are a few (approx. 3 degress) flatter than the AP2s and 1/2 an inch shorter. I play to between a 11 or 12, depending on the day. I find that (to me) irons are more important asthetically and I prefer the thinner topline appearance. I find that I have better accuracy overall and specifically into the green with the smaller/thinner MP than I did with the AP2. Don't get me wrong, the AP2s are excellent clubs and do offer mre forgiveness on mistruck shots but I find the feel and setup of the MP37s more to my liking. Regarding play, I do hit some horrible shots (with any club) and find the discussions regarding forgiveness in one iron over another to be somewhat misleading anymore. Game improvement irons appear clunky to me and usually fight a slice problem which I don't have as I tend to hook the ball. so I like the thinner more classic look and setup. I think you can miss any iron and on some shots no amount of forgiveness will correct it. If you like thin classic looks I believe the MP 37s (or newer blade like forgings) should be one set of irons worthy of your consideration. As the MP 37s are fairly dated they may be tough to find especially in good shape from wear, i found mine on Ebay and they are/were in excellent conditions. Hope this is of some help to you. Respectfully,

Mizuno MP 37 Iron 3-PW with S300 True Temper shaft.
Created: 08/09/07
I recently purchased my Mizuno MP-37 on ebay and it is worth its' weight in gold! I have been playing almost a year this month and I decided to move to blade irons after using my cavity backed irons for 8 months. The finish are excellent and the Mizuno grips (standard) are soft but dense. The cavity backs are good irons if you need distance over control. But the MP 37's gives you control over distance. It is like using a butter knife vs. a meat cleaver. The divots on the MP-37's are smaller and the head is lighter, since it does not have the extra weight the cavity backs have. The MP-37s are less forgiving and relies more on faster club-head speeds. This irons are not for the average beginners but it is suited for the above average player who are very serious in improving their game play. If you think you're ready to hone in on your accuracy in your game, then this are the right clubs for you.

A classic club that are really beautiful and playable.

I had an '85 set of Wilson Staffs previous to these clubs so I wanted something similar in a classic looking forged iron. These are so sweet to hit and a bit more forgiving than my old irons. They are supposed to be low trajectory and that is why I opted for them over the MP32 and MP60. After playing with them for 5 rounds I don't find them to be any lower, but I really hit the ball hard and much higher than the average. If you have played with forged clubs in your lifetime and want all the feedback and satisfaction of hitting it pure, you can't do any better than these clubs. They are also drop dead gorgeous to boot. A fine addition to any serious golfers bag

Great clubs

These clubs look, feel and play better than any club I've hit to date. I'm an 8 hcp and these are my first set of true blades. I was concerned my game might fall off until I learned to hit them. On the contrary, my ball striking is so much crisper. I actually hit 5-10 yards further than my ping i3 blades. This is likely due to better ball striking. My mis hits are still straight, just short. I've hit the mp67, mp32 and I like the way these set up better. The offset is minimal. I have s300 shafts and my trajectory is higher than I expected. I'm very happy with my purchase (steal in my opinion). I bought these used 4-5 times ($280), spent $30 to adjust the lie angle, and then straight to the range. It took about 50-100 balls to get the feel. If the mp32/67 are going for too much, consider these irons.

Best blades on the market!

I am about a 4 handicap, and I have tested many other blades to compare to my beloved Mp-37's and there is simply no comparison. These blades feel better than any blade I have ever hit. You know as soon as you hit a pure shot with these clubs that you are holding something truly special. I remember trying out the Titleist Zblades and the VR red irons when they first came out and they feel like junk compared to Mizuno's. Mizuno makes the best forged clubs in the world and it is not a secret, test them for yourself.
