Xbox vs. Playstation 2

Xbox vs. PlayStation 2
All game consoles are the same, right? They all play games; what else do they need to do? A game is a game no matter what console it is played on, isn’t it? Even though Xbox and PlayStation 2 essentially do the same things; they are very different!
First and foremost is the price of the units. Yes they both cost the same, $149.99, but the thing to consider is the options that come with each console. Xbox and PlayStation both come with a controller, power cord, AV connector, and of course, the game console. Take a look at the other options that come and don’t come with each system.
When looking at functionality; Xbox has a built-in hard drive, for storing game saves and download content or map packs off of CD-Rom disks. On the other hand, PlayStation 2 also has a hard drive, but it is not included with the unit, it is sold separately, for about $50. Furthermore, there is always the option to buy a memory card for your game saves on both systems, but one is not needed for Xbox. While, either a memory card or a hard drive purchase will be required for PlayStation 2, if not, the games being played will start over from the beginning, every time the console is powered off and then back on. Memory cards on both systems range from around $10 to $20.
There is another item that needs to be bought separately for the PlayStation 2, a network adapter that is needed for online gaming, which costs about $30. The network adapter is something that comes built-in to the Xbox and is included in the base price.
When it comes to DVDs, both can play them, but in order to play movies on Xbox a remote control is needed, the cost is $29.99. This is a function that PlayStation 2 is capable of right out of the box. Yes, for PlayStation 2 a remote control is available for about $19.99, but it is not needed for movie playback.
Moving on, an examination of processor speeds, video output, audio output and size are needed.
When it comes to processor speed, the Xbox beats out PlayStation 2 by more than double. When it comes to the video output it is exactly double. What that translates out to be is that the Xbox is far more capable of displaying awe- inspiring graphics. Nonetheless, the PlayStation 2 is capable of displaying some amazing graphics as well, but when the maximum resolution is examined it is clear who the winner is. With Xbox’s maximum resolution at 1920 x 1080 and PlayStation 2’s at 1280 x 1024, there is a noticeable difference.
Next is the audio output, they are both capable of playing in stereo, Dolby Digital, and DTS, so in that regards, there is really no difference to be noted.
Does size really matter? With the Xbox weighing in at about double the weight and incapable of being stood up on its side, like its competitor, it can be difficult to find a proper spot on the shelf for it. But, then again, does size really matter?
In the end, even the costs of the gaming systems are different. To have a PlayStation with a hard drive, a network adapter, and the optional remote the cost would be around $249.99. An Xbox with the same options will cost $179.98, that’s about a $70 savings, not to mention having “twice the machine.” So yes, Xbox and PlayStation do the same thing, yet are very different.

The Origional XBOX One of the BEST TO START WITH

Review For: Microsoft Xbox 8 GB Black Console (NTSC)
When Microsoft built the first X box They did a fantastic job and did a excellent job to all there loyal fans, Incredible games, Fantastic play, wonderful controls, and the best of all built with quality not quantity on mind, If you are lucky enough to own one of the originals. You own a gaming machine of true quality. But to go off topic Microsoft owns the gaming world a true apology, we were used as guinea pigs on the 360, how many paid so much and suffered breakdowns and repairs and still are on previous non jasper motherboards, Now to pay a comment so far it looks like they have done a better, not best but better, they owe more testing, I build full custom gaming systems to equal or rival Alien ware, but due to disability only for family, i called them and even explained what the problems were, free of charge asking for nothing. Because i truly care about the online gaming community, for almost 3 years they gave us 360s that died some as fast as 3 months other just at the end of the extended warranty till they finally (inconclusive so far as all three of my new 360's have yet to survive any of the other systems, my 2006 wii works perfectly still all my psps including the 1000 2000 and 3000 are all running, my gamecube is still working perfect, and the what they call awesome hard drive (120 gig please newegg sells for 50 bucks seagate drives still one of the best of the drives overall, so the little bit of software and a plastic case cost us 150 percent over what should be retail, and still charge the same price when a 500 gig drive is now available for 149) Come on microsoft show care for all your loyal gamers and build us bigger drives you already have the casing mold and you buy volume discount drives you could do us a 500 gig for 170 or less heavy emphasis on the or less and update our 360s to take them or at least a 250 gig for the price your charging for a 120 micro drive in todays tech. And take care of all your loyal gamers making you billions. Bill Gates I hope you read this, no matter what good you do you have to make up for all the loyal gamers your company burned us on, for 15 years I have supported you, with vista you gave us another me, those of us that bought it whether on laptops with no choice or oem or retail you owe us an upgrade at a decent price.

XBOX1 Gaming Console for Parts
Created: 05/10/10
Review For: Microsoft Xbox 8 GB Black Console (NTSC)
This XBOX had nothing wrong with it. I wonder why but all the XBOX Black Game Consoles seem to be for sale really cheap after Wii was released by Nintendo. Many of my bought XBOX for Repair, had nothing wrong with them? It is really strange. Anyway, I have plugged it, ran a XBOX Game in it and was able to play it.
The main reason I am buying these XBOX1 Black editions, because I am wanting to upgrade them, improve each one to their potential. Then resell each one through auction on EBAY.
They are old, but many of the games still appear really nice. Moreover, you could run Linux-DSL "Damn Small Linux" Operating system in them. To allow you to browse internet, utilize a USB-Keyboard, even wireless PS3 Keyboards work well with them.
I have not installed Linux in the HDD's yet, but have ran Linux through "Auto Softmod Installer" off a DVD-R. It has Word Processing, Free-cell, Mahjong, and probably terminal functionality.
Thank you!

the almighty xbox

Review For: Microsoft Xbox 8 GB Black Console (NTSC)
The xbox has changed the world of gaming and entertainment as we know it, thanks to the xbox creators, microsoft. The only thing that was noticed in the operation of the machines was the infamous ring of death, which was the glowing ring on the front of the xbox system going from green to red, hailing the eventual death of the system from overplay and constant use.
On the good note, ofcourse, is the system's many uses as a dvd player, music ripper, karaoke machine, music mixer and the 8 gb massive storage system game information storage and online play from xbox live ( which is MOST excellent ). Now replaced by the xbox360, the supposedly obsolete system still to this day gets its use by hardcore gamers today in games such as Grand Theft Auto ( there are many games of this title available ) and the ever-popular HALO and Halo 2. The systems alone used to sell at new retail for almost $250 and now can be purchased for under $50 in the right eBay conditions as I did mine. GET YOURS TODAY!

Microsoft's first game system provides hours of fun!
Created: 12/17/06
Review For: Microsoft Xbox 8 GB Black Console (NTSC)
I bought this system in February 2005 and I have been thoroughly satisfied with it. I have a number of quality games (Halo 1 & 2, Splinter Cell, Doom 3, Jade Empire, etc.) that are reasonably priced. Microsoft has turned its attention primarily to the Xbox 360 in an effort to win the next console wars. However, there is plenty of fun to be had with the original Xbox system. There are well over 700 games for this system! Graphics and sound are excellent and memory cards are not needed with the hard disk drive. I have read the complaints about the size of this system but mine sits in the entertainment center in my living room and I rarely move it. In addition, I put my dvd player in my bedroom because I watch movies in the living room with the Xbox dvd player. On the downside, the dvd remote has to be purchased separately (normally retails around $29, but I purchased a new 3rd party remote on Ebay for $10 and I have had no problems with it) and Microsoft no longer provides first party support in terms of games. However, with so many reasonably priced games on the market (especially used ones at Gamestop & Gamecrazy stores) there are hours of fun to be had with this system.
