awesome amp !!! nothing better than this !!! from country clean, to rock crunch, to metal mayhem. you will not find a better amp. if you think you can't use 150 watts of tube power, you're wrong. the output control lets you dial up the thick power of a 150w tube power amp while keeping sound levels as low as you want. this is THE ultimate guitar amp.
I have a 2010 model and I run it through a Bogner 412 with v30s. I can't ask for anything more in an amp. The gain is soooo powerful i never go past 6 on modern mode. The spongy/bold and tube tracking vs. diode settings basically allow you to make the amp very tight sounding or open it up to more of a "brown sound" in vintage mode. I run JJ EL34 tubes. The ergonomics of the head are the best. Of course it is 3 channels, but the pedal has solo boost, FX loop, and a mute function as well. Solid product. I will never sell it. If you buy one you will be writing reviews too. Hope this helps.
Initially when I purchased the amp I wanted to nail that Mark Tremonti tone. After playing around with it I really discovered how multifaceted and diverse it's tonal range is. The amp have a variety of settings per channel allowing to shape your tone to the settings you want and need.
In short great cleans, solid and bold distorted channels to allow in your face solos and rhythm playing.
Mesa makes Great amps. The only thing that I don't like is the effects loop is not series. Other than that, great tone!!! I use it with my engl and I have a wall of sound!!!
Freaking love it. Have had multiple Marshall stacks and some crates and this just satisfies the crunch and gain I need along with the clarity in the clean. It's a great amp and so much volume that even with a full band there is so much more I could easily push out of it
