Product description
Product Information
Taking cues from the Call of Duty franchise it helped spawn, EA resurrects its floundering first-person shooter series by moving it from WWII into 21st-century Afghanistan in Medal of Honor. Taking place in 2001, when the U.S. military began combat operations against the Taliban, Medal of Honor puts particular emphasis on special operations soldiers from throughout the armed forces, known as Tier 1 Operators. Single-player missions are primarily focused on Tier 1 soldiers as they stealthily target Al-Qaeda strongholds, but gamers will also engage in frenzied firefights as an Army Ranger, and serve as the gunner on an Apache helicopter. Developer Danger Close Games stressed reverence for soldiers and authenticity in Medal of Honor, working closely with military veterans, featuring 24 real-world weapons, and ensuring that all of the action showcases the stark juxtaposition between Afghanistan's natural mountainous beauty and the hollowed-out Soviet tanks and crumbling buildings that indicate the decades of perpetual combat that have plagued the country.

The multiplayer component of Medal of Honor is handled by EA DICE, the studio behind the well-regarded Battlefield: Bad Company series, and the action once again draws some inspiration from Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare games, with combatants persistently progressing to higher ranks, unlocking new weapons, and earning special bonuses for kill streaks. Players can choose from the Rifleman, Sniper, and Special Ops character classes and then battle across eight different maps as a member of either the "Coalition" forces or the Opposing Force "Insurgents," with all four game modes supporting up to 24 combatants. The "Team Assault" mode functions as a traditional team deathmatch, with both sides attempting to amass a certain number of points, while "Sector Control" mode finds gamers attempting to dominate smaller sections of each map in order to earn points. The "Objective Raid" mode gives players five minutes to capture or defend two objectives on the map, and the "Combat Mission" mode is a slower, story-driven campaign in which Coalition forces are tasked with capturing five consecutive objectives, while the Insurgents must prevent them from progressing. Medal of Honor also features a "Hardcore" mode, in which the mini-map and weapon crosshairs are removed, health does not regenerate, ammo cannot be acquired from fallen enemies, and players can be injured by friendly fire.

The "Limited Edition" gives players instant access to the MP7 submachine gun, the TOZ194 and 870MCS Shotguns, an exclusive "Special Ops" skin, and early access to the Battlefield 3 beta.

Honestly, it is a Nightmare Gone Wrong

Have you ever noticed nearly every review put out first on eBay is always 5 stars and always reads like it comes from the same can or is by either some game magazine or people who "CAN'T WAIT FOR IT TO COME OUT?", yet pretend they know everything about it?

With me, you will get an honest review ....

The disc single player version is OK ... nothing exceptional but some great artwork. It is more "follow-the-leader" with very little independent movement of your avatar. In fact, it is so restrictive your avatar can not even climb over a low wall unless one of the A.I. team-mates climbs first and has to either give you a boost up or hand up...not very exciting.

Your avatar is stuck in very narrow corridors in which to move in both the on-line and single play versions. Single play this is more of a frustration than a real problem, but on-line it makes for a slaughter killing field. The script in single player is pretty much fixed with few surprises and the battles are really quite dull including a mindless ATV ride around the mountains to get away from the bad guys. I got the impression the creators stole a little bit of everything from previous games and nothing was really all that original.

On-line, WOW! Now, you have some serious problems AE is attempting to keep quiet. In fact, this game was so botched, in my opinion, I demanded a full refund and GOT IT even if the game had been played. In fact, EA seems to be pulling all of their "REFUND" forums to keep it down and negative poll results. I personally ran one with the question, "IS MOH so botched that a full refund should be demanded?", and in less than 12 hours it was pulled by AE. The last result I could see was 36% said YES! That is 4 in 10 players wanting a full refund. Other polls showed as high as 54% before they too were yanked. That should warn you about this game.

Here is the major problem with MOH on-line.

It is very laggy - especially in close quarters battle conditions in which you are slaughtered because the avatars appear and disappear like walking though a strobe-light.

There are a lot of cheats and auto-aim (aimbots) cheats in the game used mostly by the snipers to hide the fact they are cheating. Speaking of snipers -- THERE ARE A LOT AND THEY MAKE LIFE MISERABLE FOR THE PLAYER.

Spawn points... you have two, and the snipers and every type of artillery strike that can be called onto one is aimed for them making for a slaughter point. You can expect to be spawned killed a lot. Sometimes you can escape it when you have a choice of spawning on the "front" or in the "base" and taking the base, but that doesn't always work.

Weapons...look pistols and shotguns do not kill at 100 plus meter ranges, but they do here. The patch currently considered to make things equal is to reduce the killing power of the sniper rifle....lol ... You can shoot someone for a full magazine with an AK or M16, etc, and still be pistol shot a 100 meters away without killing the guy you shot. The killing power of the weapons need to be adjusted into realistic terms as an M16 is certainly more lethal than a 9mm handgun...

In short, EA dropped the ball, put out a very mediocre product that is more frustration than fun instead of a masterpiece it could have been.

Good luck, but I would pass on it if were I you.

    Great and underrated game!

I really enjoyed this game. In my opinion it was very underrated, receiving some review scores as low as 6/10. This is a high quality game that is VERY fun to play. Both single-player and multi-player are fantastic. The multi-player is developed by DICE who created the Battlefield series so if you like those you have an idea what this is like. The single player is developed by in house EA studio Danger Close and they did a very good job creating a realistic yet fun story driven single player experience. It has all of the intense scripted moments of a Call of Duty game, but is focused almost entirely on a small portion of the war in Afghanistan rather than a global catastrophe. Please if you are on the fence about the game I would just buy it, especially for the price you can find it new these days (I got my copy new for xbox 360 for 29$ including shipping). Hope this helps someone!

Great game but it isn't as good as COD Black Ops

Medal of Honor is a great game, with very good control and great gameplay. The story line or campaign mode was to short especially when you compare it to Call of Duty Black Ops. I have played a little of the multiplayer portion and the maps seem small but I can't really give a good assessment of that portion of the game. Oh and on another note there have been some who say that they don't like the idea of being a enemy fighter of known terrorist organizations from the middle east in the multiplayer so there is that aspect of it. That being said though there have been games in the past where in multiplayer mode you can end up being on a team where your an enemy soldier of wars in the past and no one had issues with that so you make the call. One aspect of the game which is kind of kool is the tier one mode one caveat though is the fact that if you die you have to resart the level which is incredibly frustrating. Its a time based aspect so just let me finish level and then rank me.
So overall its not a bad game just try to get a good price on it. I paid $20 with the shipping here on ebay so it was worth it for me. If you end up paying more like $40 for it you should have tried to get Black Ops.

    Not as good as expected

This is a good, possible great game. However it will live in the shadows of the Call of Duty series. The campaign story is fun but very short. It took me about four hours to beat it. You spend most of story in a four man squad, with no control over squad. No jumping out of planes in this one, a feature lost from the previous MOH. That was a let down. The destructible world is halfway destructible. Graphics, game play, story line are all 5 star. The rainbow Series has a better interactive world than this and you can find all of them for 20.00 or less.
The online is good. The server crashed alot on the release night, issues are getting worked out. You can call air support and all that good stuff but the layout is tricky. You have 3 classes that only go to level 8. Not many perks to gain and the maps fell short of greatness. It has your typical team deathmatches, capture and defend stuff.
This is a fun game to play, good replay value and a good online setup. However its just a watered down COD. Is it worth 60.00, NO. Its really no better than MOH Airborne, with the exception people are playing the new MOH online. However it is worth a look. I suspect you will see a fast price drop on this one.

    Medal of Honor LE 360

I love the graphics compared to COD Black Ops... way better! The game play is very similar however in multiplayer there is no killcam... I find this more competitive shooter game than COD Black Ops.

The campaign mode is great... except for you have to be patient with the node characters as they will not budge out of a doorway. You must wait for them too move. The ATV driving experience can be a little frustrating if you get stuck.
