There is a lot to like about Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Tons of characters, powers, unlockables, power-ups, and bonus missions. I love the costumes you can unlock and the different advantages of each. Beta Ray Bill? Scarlet Spider? Binary? Julia Carpenter as Spider Woman? Spider-girl? Those are costumes you can earn for some of the playable characters, but for someone who has followed them for years, these are whole different characters and make the game just that much cooler. I have Captain America from WW2 fighting alongside the classic red and yellow Iron Man, Beta Ray Bill, and Storm in her punked out mohawk getup.

This is the same basic X-Men: Legends gameplay, but it all seems a little bigger and better to me. There are single-player missions you can find that range from kind of hard to incredibly tough and each of them earns you another costume for that character. The multi-player is up to 4 people and has the new twist of being either cooperative or competitive.

I'm not sure what people are driving at when they say a game like this doesn't have a story. If they put too much dialogue in that would really slow things down and it would become a regular role-playing game instead of an action/adventure like it is. The story seems fine to me...Dr. Doom has a big plan and a bunch of allies, giving the heroes plenty of reason to travel to a number of cool places (and some really hot ones) to fight against a variety of well-known Marvel villains.

I recommend the game to everyone. My 7-year-old son is playing through it with me and he's enjoying it too. He wants me to mention that he likes playing as Dr. Strange and using his magic to turn the enemies into crates.

Good graphics for PS2... and very good story line

This is a game I was hearing alot of buzz on... so I had to check it out.
Upon purchasing the game i was first impressed with the game graphics(for PS2) ... the gameplay is excellent ...
there is a wide range of characters and the special moves of each charater will keep you impressed...
The major objective of the game is to play as a team all the time..i.e
at any time whether you are playing alone or with friends (1-4)...you always have four characters to play with(may get a little confusing as a one player ..until the moves of each hero on your team is learnt)...the game is quite consistent with its name MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE...hence it is a team of heroes you are playing with all the time.
Again, once the moves of each hero is learnt... the action really begins at that point..
There are a wide range of heroes to intially choose from ...about 10...
but afer you have unlocked all the characters ...the total is about 30..
One icon Marvel Character that bwas left out is THE HULK...
but Dr. bruce Banner is Present...lol..
This GAme Is an Enjoyable ONe...
and you have to play it to experience it

A bad Hero game

Created: 01/09/07
i picked this game up with the justice league game to see how they complete against each other, and this game is horrible and by far the worse one of the two.

first ill start off with the good things about this game. there is a huge selesction of heros to pick from and all the favorites are there. the levels are all familiar from the different heros universe as well as the bad guys.

so that is the good stuff about this game. the bad is that it is basicaly a x-men legends game with different characters. those games were good but all they are doing is changing the heros and nothing else. its the same old thing three times in a row. dont get me wrong the first x-men legends was good but they should have added new stuff or changed it up so it is not just the same thing over and over again.

the story line it self is lame and not good at all. it basically has a mission briefing then you do the mission and there are some closing conversation then you repeat. so there is not much depth to the story and is lame about how "you must stop them or else the world will be destroyed".

the camera angle was hard to use and could be a pain in the butt during important battles when you cant see your enemey. also that with 4 heros on screen at a time makes it hard to fight and work through the levels. also they had to pretty much be on screen all the time so it makes it zoom really far away and distorts the graphics and maked the game look bad.

so overall this game was a x-men legends 3 rip-off and is not worth playing unless you are ok with out of control camera angles, bad story line and a not enriching game play that makes you want more.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance for PS2

Created: 02/22/07
I find it very hard to give this a 5 of 5 simply because it would have to be pristine perfect in every way. If E-Bay had a decimal system it would have a 4.5 or 4.6 though.

Pros: Most Heroes and Villains ever assembled in a video game....ever. Wonderful graphics. Many costumes covering all Marvels History. Really awe inspiring cut scenes. My favorite is the Asgard battle with Loki and the guards. Lots and lots of one liners from the characters you expect to have them (i.e. Deadpool, Spider-Man, Wolverine).

Cons: Let down that the PS2 that revolutionized console gaming didn't receive one unlockable "special" character like the Wii/360 got. As of this review no content available download made available for the PS2 just X-360, and that's still in the works.

Overall great game an a must have for the Super Hero fan in your family on any platform.

his is an excellent game, it allows you to play as your favorite Marvel heroes like spider-man, wolverine, Daredveil, Thor and many others. This game's plot has Doctor Doom the evil nemesis of the fantastic four joining forces with other villains like ironman's enemy The Crimson dynamo, Thor's evil brother Loki, Enchantress and more. with their combined might they steal the power of Thor's father Odin the god. With this power Doctor Doom transforms the entire world into his own kingdom and it's up to you to save the day by searching the universe for the items you need in order to defeat Doctor Doom. In search of these items you run into the eveil Galactus and also have to help save an empire from ending. Once you have these itmes you head back to earth for the final battle with Doctor Doom.
