Surprising quality for the price. The draw weight is perfect for a teen, but the length would require it to be a tall teen. My children have several bows, and this is about the best recurve bow you'll find for the money. Also comes with easy to install grip for left handed people. Was a little surprised at the draw length though, seems a little short for a bow of this size, but that just makes is perfect for the 26" youth arrows.
I bought this for a 7 year olds first bow. In that role it's working... kind of. The 15 lb. fiberglass bows from 40 years ago were better training aids IMHO. This Martin XR's molded plastic riser took some sanding to remove all the sharp edges and mold lines. And you will need to attach the arrow rest with some small screws, the two-faced tape lasts one shot. But remember this is a very inexpensive bow, there are youth bows that cost hundreds of dollars. But as an introduction bow to see if the child has an interest in archery this bow can be made to work, but remove the sharp edges and screw the rest on or it will just collect dust in the corner of the kids room. Also it's difficult finding cheap youth arrows with feather fletching. Plastic vanes will kick the arrow sideways on a recurve.
very smooth draw but kinda heavy and big i bought because i needed a bow for turkey season its the best bow ive shot except for the tiny problems above
