|Are you ready to party, Mario style? If so, then you and three friends are all invited to a special competition to see who can collect the most stars. Take turns rolling dice and moving along one of seven game boards filled with colorful spaces and 3D characters. There's a twist, however. Once you land on blue or red spaces, you'll have to compete in various mini-games!|
Win the event and you'll receive coins, which can later be used to purchase stars from Toad's space (twenty coins buys you one star). If you happen to land on Boo's space, you can pay the ghost fifty coins to steal a star from another player! Each mini-game (there are 56 in total) involves a different amount of players, with the majority being four-player simultaneous events.
These range from "Hot Bob-omb," where each character throws an active bomb around like a hot potato, to a "Fishing Derby" where you try to reel in the most coins with your pole. There are also several one-versus-three, two-versus-two, and one-player mini-games to add some variety to the competition. Each Mario Party game consists of a specific number of turns (either 20, 35 or 50), so the player with the most stars at the end of the last turn is declared the winner.
Don't have any friends to partake in the festivities? Mario Party allows you to play against computer characters with three adjustable difficulty levels. Six of Nintendo's finest will serve as the game's pieces, including: Mario, Princess Toadstool, Luigi, Wario, Yoshi and Donkey Kong. Each game board is built around these characters and offers slightly different layouts and traps.
Find yourself losing too many events? Players who aren't faring so well in the mini-games aren't necessarily out of the running; the board features certain spaces that cost coins to pass through or characters who'll redistribute stars between players! There's also a smaller Mini-game Stadium allowing you to play a faster game that just involves gathering coins. By the way, the 256-Meg cartridge records all of your stars and coins so you can purchase assorted items and power-ups after each game. Party on!

Mario Party is the first in a long and storied series of games. Based on the premise of playing a board game, Mario Party employs mini-games at the end of every turn (and sometimes during) to allocate coins to the players. Coins are the in-game currency, and can be used to buy items, buy stars (the goal of the game is to have the most stars by the end of the set of turns), and occasionally even steal things from opponents.
With over 60 mini-games in total, you don't have to be great at any particular game to have a chance to win. It's possible to win the game even against seasoned video game veterans. The game features six different playable characters, six or so different boards to play (which can take an hour or multiple depending on how the game is played), and many customizable options (including computer players).
Other game modes include an all-mini game 1 player experienced called Mini-Game Island, which is good for the solitary player wishing for a challenge. A bank and Shop are available for buying different items that modify your game using the coins you acquire in each game. An options menu allows you to hear the entire soundtrack (and voices), along with a few other game options. Finally, players can visit the Mini-Game House where you can buy mini-games for use in the house so you can play them individually. A separate mini-game stadium mode is good for players who want a very simple experience.
All in all, this game delivers. I played it almost a decade ago, and now recently repurchased it. It is worth every penny if you can find it, but I wouldn't suggest trying to find it at game shops. Many try to charge up to thirty dollars for it, when you can find it here on eBay for as low as ten dollars.
The orignal Mario Party, was one of the best games made for the Nintendo 64 and in Mario lifetime. The game features a board game that you will usually play on the kitchen table you can play on your tv screen. The mini games were superbly epic and may cause blisters on your hand with all the analog stick rotating mini games ,but the rest of the fun makes up for it. Mario Party is ment to play with friends or company, however it doesnt mean you can only play it when company is over it is also fun in single player agaisnt the dumb or mischivous computer players. The boards bring personality giving each player (including Bowser) thier own board. Mario party is proven to be a long lasting series recycling the same ideas for 10 years but i though each mario Party game is special in its own way, and one of Hudson's best video game frachises. i rate Mario Party a 86% because its a fun game for everyone who plays it.
-This game is hands down one of my favorite games. Coming from a person who is a current avid Xbox 360 player. It's always fun going back to where it all started.
-Description (For those who haven't played): Mario party is, and I REPEAT, the"original" party game of all time. It's fun no matter if you play single player or with your best friends. I always enjoy coming back from college on break and spending a night playing Mario Party. The basic objective of the game is to collect the most stars. You hit a dice and go around a board setup with adventure at every turn. After each player hits the dice once a mini game is played. The winner of the mini game wins 10 coins in most situations. This process is repeated for a specified amount of turns with surprises at every corner.
-Pros- This game is the ultimate party game. This game is best utilized when you play with family and friends. There is a variety of turns to choose from, so you are basically in control of how long you play. There are hours and hours of fun and different maps to pick from. The mini game mode is fun single player addition where you play through all the mini games.
-Cons- Too much time in front of a tv :P
Lasting Impression: If your looking for a blast from the past, Mario Party is your best friend.
The classic 64 game is one I suggest every mario fan should have played at least once. It's the beginning of a new era in Mario and Nintendo. The game consists of playing mini-games, rolling dice, and outwitting the other players. It's the only game of it's kind, and is fun for the whole family. If you buy this game I surely assure that it will be money well spent. I'm playing the game as I type this review, but I recommend only buying this game if you mash a button really fast, and get used to killing your hands because the game makes you mash the button over your limit, so I would recommend only buying this game if your 14 or above, or if you really press the button fast and don't mind hand cramps.
This is another classic game that I have been playing on and off ever since its debut back in the late 90’s. I actually played the game just the other day with my little brother and it was very fun like usual! I have had many great experiences with this game playing with others and even with myself!
I bought this game for my little brother as a Christmas gift because I knew he loved Mario games and I thought it would be a great game we could both play at the same time, (I was correct)!
What I liked most about this game is the numerous types of games you can play in it! It is like a board game style like with a lot of classic video game characters like Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Yoshi, etc. This game is so fun to play with friends and family! It’s really hard to get bored of it! What I dislike about the game is the computerized characters you are playing against because sometimes they are so cheap and unfair, it’s ridiculous! Mario Party however is truly a classic video game and it will stand the test of time.
