Movie synopsis
Retired FBI agent Will Graham (William L. Petersen) returns to action to hunt down a serial killer by using his ability to get inside the psychopath's mind. However, it was this ability that drove him into retirement in the first place. The process of tracking and capturing the infamous Hannibal Lecter (Brian Cox) took a tremendous psychic toll on Graham, causing him to spent time in a mental hospital. With another madman on the loose, Graham has no choice but to return to duty, though he knows that it might cost him his family and his sanity. To get the old mind-set back, Graham visits Hannibal Lecter in his high-security jail cell. However, the manipulative Lecter plays both sides and warns the new killer that Graham is on his trail, telling him to destroy Graham's family to protect himself. In order to save his own family, Graham must risk everything to once again enter into the mind of the criminally insane. With MANHUNTER, Mann raises the bar for serial killer films, imbuing his killer with an almost sympathetic quality while keeping him extremely menacing and clearly dangerous. Based on the Thomas Harris novel RED DRAGON, which serves as the prequel to THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, MANHUNTER is a masterpiece of gripping storytelling and psychological horror.

MANHUNTER, 1986 - Based on RED DRAGON by Thomas Harris!

The story is based on the novel "Red Dragon" by Thomas Harris, this particular Michael Mann production came out in 1986. A good film, in the sense of quality film-making goes, as Michael Mann is certainly known for. This original film version provides an entirely different movie experience than the modern Red Dragon w/ Edward Norton and Anthony Hopkins does. The story follows our FBI hero Will Graham (well done by William Petersen of CSI fame) after he's helped to capture the diabolical Dr. Lecter (played by Brian Cox of X-Men 2). Now Graham must come out of retirement to pursue a new killer, "The Tooth Fairy", as he is forced to confront the fears of his own past. A somewhat slower-paced story at times that relies on keen cinematography to tell it's tale. You know what you're in for as it's a Michael Mann piece from '86; the Miami Vice-style music, the tough-cop dialogue and Mann-style filmmaking is all in there. The CSI-style intrigue and unexpected surprizes that unfold in this movie are worthwhile. If you can catch this one on the cheap it's certainly a noteworthy distraction. Thank you for taking the time to read my review, I hope that it was helpful - please rate it accordingly. Be fair and take care out there...

Manhunter

Review For: Manhunter (VHS)

It is one of the first movies that William Peterson was in. And it is very suspensful. Like on CSI he is trying to piece together evidence not to a murder
but to a stalker who is still on the prowl. He trys to fiqure out why the suspect made each move he made. He even has a chat with Hanabil Lector to see
if he knows of this killer. And he believes Hanabil does. The ending of the movie is the best. I cannot go on and tell you much more because it will spoil
it for you and you will know too much about the movie. All i can say is BUY THIS MOVIE. I bought mine on www.half.com on VHS because the DVD has it widescreened but its that real narrow widescreen. Like looking thru a mailbox slot. I wanted full screen so i got the VHS. Buy this movie. You will love it.

Review For: Manhunter (VHS)

Great movie. The original Red Dragon. A little bloodier than the re-make. My son told us about this original movie, we had never heard of it. A good addition to the collection.
