A - Compact & mobile Manfrotto MODO 785b ...very light backpacking tripod

This is a cool , compact tripod,made for lighter Point and shoot cameras . It can go as low as about 7 inches, has three different lockable positions,and will extend up to 5 feet in height and every height in between.It folds to 18 inches ,and has the built in pistol pan, for video and camera modes.I own four other tripods as well.A Manfrotto 190xpro B, a Vanguard AltaPro 263AT w/ GH100 head,an old Husky QuickSet 2 (Great old vintage Tank of a Tripod),and a cheap Walmart MX 1000.This MODO 785B will see more use than all the others combined. I can take it backpacking,Cache hunting,and on my Treasure hunting - Metal Detecting outings. Where I record videos for my You-Tube channels.A very nice,light and stabile platform. Where I will take landscape, and Macro videos from. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars in Quality. Is because the Pistol head does not totaly lock down and can be moved when bumped. Also the orange plastic dot lock on the quick release plate has to be removed to accomodate some older cameras.It can easily be lost when removed ! They could have designed that little part to screw up and down when not needed,but it does lock in your camera very well..Otherwise (Even tho made in China). It is a well thought out design, and stabile platform for any Point and shoot such as my Sony DSC-HX 20, my old Panasonic DMC-FZ5, or light HD video camcorder. Such as my Sony HDR-CX 260.Good quality,very easy to use, very compact and light,great value if you can pick one up for less than $50 U.S. with FREE Shipping. It is now Discontinued/ Replaced by the Manfrotto MKC3-HO 1..The Modo was rated for point and shoot cameras of two pounds and under, where it's MKC3 is designed for heavier DSLR cameras, but lacks the versatility of the older MODO 785B.They addressed the problem with the Pistol head comming lose on the newer MKC3, but changed everything else that was good about the MODO in redesign. I have seen a mod that can give the versitility of the MODO ,and take the extra weight of DSLR cameras on You Tube. But you have to own both to get it done. I am happy taking pictures with my Point & shoot cameras & this Tripod. Hope this helped someone.

piece of crap tripod

The head is exceptional, the tripod is a piece of crap. The
leg release brackets are flimsy, break easily under normal use
and cannont be replaced. Manfrotto customer service is terrible
and this product was quickly replaced because it is a turkey.

compact tor travel

I have not used this tripod yet.I plan to use this tripod because it is compact.This product is more compact and weighs less than my other tripod.I am trying to make my travel gear and carry les weight.

Best compact tripod around

Best compact tripod I have seen. Fits in my backpack, yet expands to 1.6 Metres. Feels solid and will not blow over in the wind. All leg locking catches feel like they are made to last and the tilting head works very well. I like this tripod a lot and use it daily.
