As advertised, the cordless Makita drill/driver I bought had obvious of previous ownership! However, it was still very presentable, intact minus the charger and after a quick wipe down with brake cleaner, looked perfect! Even better has been the performance! After letting the battery come to a complete charge in less than 30 minutes (god bless Lithium Ion batteries!) I found I couldn't find enough stuff to drill! I couldn't be any happier with my Makita BDF452 18V Li-Ion 1/2" Cordless Drill/Driver.
The drill is not for the professional craftsman if he does any high torque work, I love the light feature as it really helps in tight cramped spaces see what your doing. It cannot handle drilling large capacity holes or drive large screws as it eats battery life or just will not drive them at all. The case leaves alot to be desired no real space to store your extras. This is a great light duty screw gun with limited applications.
Makita works great, with power as it should. Lots of power to do the job. Med size. The BHD454 is stronger but more money, the DFO2 is less money and slightly more compact to get in tighter spots and has power to do the job also. But the 1.5amp battery charges quickly 15min, and you can use the 3amp that charges 30min but all batteries work for a long time between charges. But the 454 DOES not use the BL1815 1.5amp battery, only the BL1830 3amp >FYI<, but it has 100lbs (1,200in pounds) of torque.
This drill is fantastic. It charges in minutes, has a great key less chuck that can be tightened without running the drill. Light and comfortable. Great buy!
I used this item in the past I like the torque and simplicity.
Not too heavy for the torque ocasional use is the idea. This drill has enough torque to hurt you if you have a weak wrist. Care must be taken to secure the work in place and the use of both hands on the wrist is allways a good idea.
