Love It

I'm in poor health, not very mobile, and have to spend a lot of time alone. I wanted to get a new DVD player so I could watch my movies without going to another room where the home entertainment system is set up. I bought one from a retail store and when I unpacked it, discovered it was broken. While looking for a replacement, I came across this Magnavox combo and the price was so low I decided to buy it.

It works perfectly and makes it so easy to watch DVDs or VHS tapes without the bother of two machines and a rat's nest of wire connections. It looks trim and tidy under the flat screen TV, the button functions are easy to read and the remote is user friendly. I've used it constantly; I have trouble sleeping and frequently watch at least one DVD and one VHS tape per night--and I'm almost afraid I'll jinx it by saying it performs just as it claims it will.

My best endorsement is that I ordered two more, one as a gift and the other for another TV here in my house. Incredible value for the price and so easy to hook up and set up.

Great rebuilt item for a great price

This item is definitely worth the money and the fact the shipping is free adds to the great deal. It is a refurbished player and as far as I can tell, is just as good as a brand new one. If you are looking for a DVD/VCR combo to transfer tapes to DVD, this is for you. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but it is PERFECT for the person who wants something to do the basics. I was looking for a player for my collection and then something I could start making copies of my VCR tapes to DVDs. The display quality of the tapes and DVDs is perfect. The screen does not jump or have lines in the picture. The player comes with the instruction manual, remote, batteries, and cable, so it is ready to use as soon as it arrives. I am very pleased with the item and have the security that it has a manufacturers warrenty. I highly recommend this item if you are looking for the things I was looking for in a combo player. If you are looking for something to record TV shows or set up timed recordings, this item is not for you. I highly recommend this item and gave it an excellent rating.

Not happy

I bought this VCR/DVD player because my other one died. I wanted a player to hook up to my tv to obviously watch dvds and be able to tape tv shows as we're not modernized with DVR or anything like that as of yet. Turns out we had to buy a converter in order to even hook up to the tv and after that the player doesn't hook into the tv programming in order to tape shows or tape one while watching another. Apparently need another device that is a bit more expensive than I'm willing to pay. Seriously...why did they even bother putting out a product that the consumer has to add to in order for it to work properly? I'm sure it's a $ issue, but I very disappointed in this product. Looks like we're getting closer to the DVR alternative.

good dvd/vcr combo

I purchased this dvd/vcr combo for my daughter two weeks ago. The remote controll looked impresive but is a little diffucult to reed and the buttons are very small. the player works well but I am displeased with the fact that the imput is not in stereo and that it only as a single imput for audio. I was contiplating trying to porchase another one for my bedroom that has a stereo in it but it does not have fiber optic output. For my childs room it is a good unit and would suggest it if you do not want or need any of the higher end imputs and outputs.

piece of crap

This thing was totally a waste of time. It never worked out of the box and I sent it back to the seller within 3 days. Not only will it NOT hook up to an older model tv, but even after I hooked it up to my stereo reciever no matter what I did I could not get sound out of the dvd/vcr player. This unit deserves negative stars in my opinion.
