Excellent product Magellan Maestro 3250 Automotive GPS Receiver As a personal use system, this item is excellent. Easy to use controls let you easily program addresses with touch screen, enhanced by suggestive spellings of cities & streets. Clear, concise directions spoken in an electronic female voice combined with a 2D/3D map map travel from address to address a snap. Lightweight, slim design, Bluetooth compatibility, and a 3-4 hour battery life make this a great buy.
I must say, that when using the Magellan Maestro 3250 traveling that if you get lost you must live under a rock. With the units easy programming you just follow the directions. It will advise you of an upcomming turn, If you go the wrong way it lets you know.. when its time to turn the voice guidence along with the tone tells you that you made the correct turn, its real hard to get lost unless you can not follow directions. The unit beats a map hands down.. I was really amazed at how well the unit functions. Also if you change routes mid stream it will auto correct for you.. Its great to say the least. I have also used this type of unit in Europe and again its fantastic..

The limitations of this unit are small but significant to some. The mapping from the GPS unit itself can only be entered by address, it won't accept lats & longs on the touch screen. I've had difficulty with taking the POI (Point of Interest) files and sending them to the GPS.
As a personal unit, I'd highly recommend it. As a professional navigation tool, it lacks the import capability most users will look for, and without a better solution for inputting lats and longs, I'd recommend something more Microsoft friendly.
I had been avoiding the GPS craze. I often bade fun of my girlfriend's Tom-Tom. Then one day to use up some bonus points on buy.com I bought a Magellan Maestro 3250. I used it for some small trips and found it most handy when a group of us got lost in Burlington Vt trying to find a street. After following someone go in circles I had my gf turn the Magellan on and enter the address and off we went. We were sitting in the restaurant with menus by the time the first group finally found the place. Then someone stole my Magellan along with it the updated map disk! They took the power cable that has the fm antenna lead as well but didn't take the bracket that was on the windshield. The unit and cord were in between the seats not on the bracket. So I looked for a Magellan on ebay and there was the same model on auction. I won it and just completed a Florida Trip with it it worked flawlessly. First thing I did was update the core software on the 3250. Fortunately I had copied the files from the updated map disk from my first one and put them on an sd card and inserted it in the unit, but that didn't work. So I said what the heck I accessed through the usb connection the map files on the unit, copied them to my hard drive in case i screwed up, then deleted the older map files then copied the newer ones to the unit and presto I had an upgraded model without having to use a map disk.
I like the compact size and weight of this product, and the voice commands and blue tooth capabilities are great features. Only complaints are the lack of easy volume control. You have to go into a couple of subscreens to reach the volume control, not a safe or easy task to accomplish while driving. Overall would still give this product a 9 out of 10, and would recommend this product to anyone needing a dependable gps without breaking the bank.
