Movie synopsis
The BBC network strikes again with this sleek spy series. MI-5 follows a group of undercover U.K. security agents who are not only forced to lie to the dangerous groups they infiltrate, but to their families as well. Incorporating cutting-edge technology, this taut thriller is television at its most inventive. This volume presents the entire British sixth season, in which Adam and Ros fight against an emerging terrorist threat, and a deadly virus that could decimate London.

Brilliant program

Once again, our friends "across the pond" have produced a superb show. If you have Netflix streaming, you can watch the first 3 (or 4?) series.

The show revolves around MI5, which is the US equivalent of the FBI (Whereas MI6 is more like the CIA). The story arc is excellent, the character development is done very well. I would advise children under the age of 14 at least to not watch this program. THe producers are not scared of killing off main characters throughout the series, but one can never guess who it might be.

Full of spy intrigue, great dialogue, and notable cast members, this program far surpasses "24" (and I will say, I really used to love 24). I can not think of any other drama series by the BBC, with the exception of Midsomer Murders, that is as addicting, and sadly, realistic.

Known in Britain as "Spooks" (changed to MI5 in the US), the series does not fear taking on current issues within the "war on terror". It also does not sugarcoat the harsh realities we are in today. It IS important to start watching from series one on, as there are developing plot lines. However, many episodes hold their own.

The seller from which I purchased this set (already having watched all of them) was extremely wonderful, and I could tell the seller loved the series as much as I did, and wanted to pass along something television has lost sight of: terrific programming, solid plots, great actors, and suspenseful "spy" insight.

Series 7 comes out in the US in January. Series 8 has already been completed in Britain but I do not know the timeline for the DVDs.

If you like intelligent, suspenseful, character driven shows this is not one to miss.

MI-5, v6 : A new spin on the series

Sure, I of course like some seasons more than others, and some of their stronger novelties they sprung on us could wear thin; which is why they've got new twists.

Still avoiding the usual cliffhanger devices, character expectations, and running 'trademark' surprises of other dramas (spy dramas especially,) they've even turned a few tricks on their own original tricks, keeping you guessing, much like the MI-5 officers themselves, overloaded with information, misinformation, and the surprises that come at them sideways... making the drama that much more effective.

Without spoiling anything in series 6, I can tell you series 6 starts off with a shocking event (even for Harry's crew,) that taints or outright poisons the team's every move throughout, relevantly and believably so. Points will come where one's customized 'MI-5 story arc sense' will fail you often, for better or for worse (for the team.)

Keeping ahead of the drama game, MI-6 delivers, brutally, cynically, hopefully and hopelessly.

For a show that hinges on the safe-for-the-day, work-is-never-done aggression, they not only keep you exhausted with their gritty insistence, they keep you fixated on every dangling thread, every quivering nerve, every pointed gun and even deadlier character intention.

MI-5 volume 1-5 fans will absolutely not be disappointed in the least.

MI-5 Volume 6

There's nothing I disliked about Volume 6. It's great acting, great action, great plot - just great entertainment. It's really a tribute to all the unsung heroes in the intelligence field. It's certainly makes me appreciate the price which has been paid by others for the freedom I and my family enjoy. The life and death choices which are faced by the super spooks of MI5 are portrayed so realistically that it's mind boggling. What I really enjoyed was the different perspective one gets from the UK view of the world politic. The arrogance of the yanks is interesting and reminiscent of the Ugly American era. What I noticed is that with another series I follow produced in the U.S. I fast forward through the DVD's. Not this one. With MI5 I watch each episode from beginning to end with all my attention. It's really exciting and super entertainment.
