Synopsis
Logan Thibault, a U.S. Marine, discovers a photograph of a young smiling woman while on a tour of duty in Iraq. After a series of fortunate events, he comes to view the photograph as a lucky charm, and carries it with him always. Once back in the United States, his obsession with the mysterious woman grows, and he eventually tracks her down. She's a single mother in North Carolina, and Logan finds himself unexpectedly caught up in a passionate romance with his "lucky one." Bestselling author Nicholas Sparks (A WALK TO REMEMBER, MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE) once again blends romance, destiny, danger, and a hint of tragedy to create a wonderfully moving tale of remarkable love.

Coming into the possession of a photograph of a smiling woman he has never met, a man experiences a chain of fortuitous events that cause him to regard the photograph as a lucky charm, a belief that prompts a heartfelt search for the woman.

Is there really such thing as a lucky charm? The hero of Nicholas Sparks's new novel believes he's found one in the form of a photograph of a smiling woman he's never met, but who he comes to believe holds the key to his destiny. The chain of events that leads to him possessing the photograph and finding the woman pictured in it is the stuff of love stories only a master such as Sparks can write.

Industry Reviews
"Readers are sure to relish this grand, destined love story enhanced with endearing kids, dogs and grandmothers; a cozy country atmosphere; and glimpses of a wise ghost. The ominous foreshadowing of disaster adds suspense, as do the problems complicating the relationship. Romance fans will consider themselves more than fortunate to have discovered THE LUCKY ONE."

Review For: The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks (2008, Unabridged, Compact Disc)
Imagine a story line that caught you flat-footed. This one does.

I GI, a long ways from home, finds something on a beach. He finishes his tour and comes home, but doesn't stay. He's got a 'mission.' He is very methodical and careful about revealing what it is - at least to those who are the subject of it. He finds way more than he planned - and that's good.

A smooth blending of great characters - nice, not-so-nice and supporting, with a great 'home spun' feeling makes for a very nice read.

Sparks found a new reader with this book. I'll look for more of his work.

I'll post my usual complaint about insufficient notice for the end of a disk although this one did have some soft music to suggest it was coming, and tracks that are much longer than fun to listen to if you want to back up a bit to re-listen to a part.

Good story, it's not too long and it keeps you interested. I read similar books such as Sandra Brown. This is on the same lines as that.
