Overall, I wanted to investigate looking into a Wireless-N router that was not only cheap, but could be flashed with linux firmware and enhance its potential. Standard linksys firmware by all means, sucks. It is buggy, drops signals, and I've always as long as I can remember, had to reboot the thing once every couple weeks to a month, which would only occur more as the routers got older. With this routers ability to be flashed with DD-WRT, it runs absolutely fine and stable. No issues whatsoever. I can run a FTP site with no issues, carry out VoIP convos on my phone, and downloading is pretty nice too. For all of you that whine and complain about linksys routers being horrible, try flashing it. Worth the five minutes to do, and makes the router a lot better. Ive had this router for almost 3 months now without even having to reboot it. Only reason this router gets a good rating, is because I bought another one just like it so I could do a repeater/WDS setup, but since the firmware on this type of router doesn't support it, it crashes when trying to set it up that way. Little disappointed, but not the routers fault I suppose. Overall, great deal for the price I got :-D
The Linksys WRT150N wireless N router is an excellent, inexpensive router.Small,2 antennae, low power consumption and best of all, easy to set up.
Unlike some other reviewers,I did not have to flash it with DD-WRT.It worked fine with the default software,so,if it aint broke, dont fix it, applies here!
Unless one has some specific needs, the default software should be fine.ie: dropouts are caused by many reasons, location being just one of them.
I could have set it up by hand, but decided to download and run the setup wizard anyway.
I wish they'd kept the internet setup exactly the same as on my Linksys wired router, but no big deal, just a slight difference.
Great little router!
Used one of these for a hotspot using ddwrt (full version) and it become a GREAT router, very happy with mine NEVER had to reboot it to get it to work. Unlike some other routers I have used in the past (non linksys) ones which often require reboots.
This not a good router it's a GREAT router.
The router is as good as any other router I've had. This one didn't come with any manuals (don't know why), but instead had a CD with a setup program which was supposed to help you set up the router. The wizard was worthless. It gave no options for advanced settings unless you successfully configured with the wizard, which didn't work in my case because I have a VOIP router in line before this router. After some digging, I was able to find the IP address of the router and access the web based configuration.
Good throughput for price; Powerful setup program; Excellent security WRT firmware compatible. Signal with good quality.
