The Linksys E4200 Maximum Performance Dual-Band Wireless-N Router offers true dual-band with 450Mbps on the 5GHz band; Gigabit Ethernet; fast throughput; a long range; NAS functionality; a nice set of networking features; and a good Web interface. The router also comes in a nice and compact design, and includes Cisco Connect, an intuitive software application that helps home users set up and manage their home wireless network with ease.
The Linksys E4200 doesn't offer 450Mbps throughput on the 2.4GHz band; its guest networking feature is limited to only 10 clients; the included desktop application doesn't allow for managing all of the router's settings, doesn't work well with the Web interface, and requires a live Internet connection for the initial setup. The router also runs warm, and its power adapter is bulky.
The Linksys E4200 Maximum Performance Dual-Band Wireless-N Router is the first advanced router from Cisco that will make both novice and savvy users happy, thanks to its easy-to-use desktop application, comprehensive Web interface, great design, and stellar performance.

Refurbished Linksys E4200 was easy to setup.
This unit replaced a D-Link router that was hit by a lighting strike. The signal strength compared to the replaced router was increased by two bars with the computer on opposite ends of the home. I attached my Seagate Free-Agent-Go backup drive to the USB port and the software would time out before it recognised the drive, replaced it with a 32 gigabyte flash drive with no problems.
Sleek, no external antennas with a small footprint.
The share requires a password for computers to interface on the same network.
Connect speeds are as good on wireless as they are on Ethernet connections.
I have not contacted the Linksys help line as of date to check them out.
On Line movies are shudder free on the computer ( have not connected to the smart TV, yet.)
I gave it five stars from the time it was installed - only time will tell if I have to change my mind !
I was looking for a new router to replace my old draft N wireless router. I came across this sleek little number with 2 different bands, network 450 Mbps transfer speed and usb connectivity for printers/peripheral devices. My old unit kept dropping out and reconnecting during peek hours or high usage. I do some gaming and also run a game server from time to time and need something that is reliable and my old system just wasn't cutting it. This Linksys E4200 has been living up to its hype. Data transfer has been seamless and constant while my online activities have been running non-interrupted since I started using this equipment. Although the price is still high I don't believe there is a similar featured item out there as yet, so your getting the best available and most reliable item on the market today. I haven't found anything to complain about, minus the price, and I've only been running it for about a month, but if it keeps up its' current performance I'll remain a happy customer. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who uses high bandwidth and it's very good for streaming video wirelessly from my computer to the TV.
i bought this ruter becose meny people that i know have it and dont complain about any problems and i wanted to test it before this router i had a segacom one that was reall afawll and this just a really big difrance
I really love the router i used it as VPN server works perfectly
the interface with the dd-wrt frimware is really easy to set up
and it have so many customizations for your need and its wireless range is so good i just cant describe it full speed all the way.its works great for my WAN MPLS connection
in one word its AWESOME !!!
I am not a computer geek type person and was a bit apprehensive changing from wired router to wireless router. After researching, I decided upon this brand and model. The eBay auction provided a wonderful price and, of course, NO sales tax. The installation was flawless; no problems whatsoever then and now. The streaming capability is excellent. The unit's range is fine in my home. Would I purchase it again. Yes.
