DVD was excellent! Quality is top notch! Really satisfied!
I bought this product because I love watching animal documentaries especially with David Attenborough.
I wanted to buy a quality time yet not that expensive DVD for that and that is why I bought it!
When you buy a Sir David Attenborough dvd, you know right from the start
that you find hours of wonderful delight with your family, a thing that is harder and harder to be today: the simple act of watch tv with your family....
So this dvd as others from BBC, is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
It takes you into the micro-world; right under some of our own noses. It's just
incredible and seeing it once was definitely not enough. Because it made me so very much more aware of the miracle of life, and the abundance of it, I knew I had
to add it to my collection. It is one of the best, nature-documentaries I've ever
seen in my entire life. I'd say there can be absolutely not one person ever,
who would not be totally entranced for the duration of this film.
This 2006 nature series is another great accomplishment from Attenborough and the BBC. His team uses medical fiber-optic camera lenses to get right down to ground level, showing the slugs and ants and springtails at a perspective and level of detail which we've never been able to see before.
Episode 1 covers the "less-evolved" land invertebrates, i.e. slugs, millipedes/centipedes, etc. Episode 2 looks at airborne insects, using high-speed cameras to view hoverflies and bluebottles. Episode 3 is mostly focused on spiders and their amazing use of silk - some very beautiful scenes here. Episode 4 is about reproduction, and Episode 5 covers the social insects - ants, termites, bees and wasps.
My only complaint - the series was far too short, and the presentation felt less organized than in his other, longer series. But all in all, this DVD set is well worth your money.
I'm very pleased. Some scenes were amazing. Very educational for young or old.
The only down-side was it was a bit slow from time to time but that is hardly
a big problem. I highly recommend it to anyone who has an interest in insects.
