Lenovo ThinkPad X60 Laptop/Notebook

I bought my X60 two years ago here on eBay, used. I was looking for a laptop with 1) low weight, 2) low noise level, 3) long-lasting battery, and preferably 4) good hardware durability. My previous laptops had failed miserably in all or most of these regards.

Before I got my X60, I have always thought of IBM Thinkpads as overpriced laptops with poor old-fashioned design. But the good reviews back then made me curious, so I bought it.

My Thinkpad X60 has not disappointed me one single time since I bought it. I have used it more or less on a daily basis since then, for both work and leisure. However demanding my statistics programs are, it keeps on working quietly and efficiently. In the evenings, I connect it to the TV to watch internet TV, almost every day. Never any problems. I almost always bring it with me; it is so easy to carry that I forget that I even have it with me. With the six-cell battery I can use it for at least five hours without worrying about finding a power outlet.

For anyone looking for a small, light-weight, laptop with excellent battery time (you can always get a new battery at a decent price), who is more concerned about durability and reliability than cool design, I highly recommend the X60.

PS: The convenient little docking station (including the optional CD/DVD drive) works excellent too!

This is the best laptop for work and fun. This is little, the docking is great, its docking has +3 USB, Parallel port, serial port, DVD. +++++

Typical Thinkpad quality and attention to detail. It may not be as stylish as others but it is solidly built and as really fast.

I bought it for a friend; and I ended up needing some other stuff for it; i.e.: a hard drive caddy and a charger. Neither were included, but the AC charger was explicitly stated missing. Boots, runs, etc. Good choice for the entry level laptop for a young kid. It's small (12 inch screen?) which makes it a dream to travel with. This would be excellent with a solid state drive.

Product worked perfectly for my purposes. Installed Linux from one of the USB ports, The battery is not that good but it's not that bad either considering it's an older laptop.
