| Nintendo's thematic action-adventure sequel to Ocarina of Time takes the series back to its more cartoonish roots. Utilizing a completely new look with cel-shaded graphics, the game casts players in the role of a familiar young boy, who sets out to save his kidnapped sister. Gameplay is vintage Zelda, only that the game's overworld is covered by water. Players have to control the direction of the wind to sail across the ocean and find dungeons, towns, and plenty of secrets. A special Game Boy Advance link-up option lets another player join the quest and give hints and assistance via the handheld. | |

Being a old school Zelda fan, I was skeptical about this game at first. The characters have a "cartoonish" look that takes a little while to get used to. After a few hours into it, I was hooked.
The game is excellent and keeps with the traditional Zelda roots very well. You will see some all so familiar characters and music in this game. The game control is also excellent and very similar to Ocarina of Time. You will also love the sea theme where you sail around the world exploring the vast sea.
I give Wind Waker a 5/5 for keeping with the traditional Zelda theme much better that I first suspected. If you are like me and have played every Zelda game since the original, you can't go wrong here.
I like the puzzles. The bosses are really neat. I like the items, you have to work really hard to find them. The sea travel is really cool and getting upgrades to your weapons to your weapons is pretty cool too. I am a big fan of the Legend of Zelda series.
I remember when this game first came out on the GameCube. Being a hardcore Zelda fan, I was extremely disappointed with the cell-shading style that Nintendo had decided to go with. It wasn't until years later, when my much younger cousin gave me the copy of his game for free, that I decided to even try the game out.
I was astounded.
The cell-shading, which had originally been the major turn-off for me, simply fit. That character development and the story was spectacular. Although many have complained about the sailing aspect, I found this to be one of the best features. There were more puzzles and side missions than most of the previous Zelda games (with the possible exception of Majora's Mask), and the score was easily the best one so far.
The game that I had refused to play had become my second favorite Zelda game of the newer Zelda series (meaning Ocarina and up).
The legend of Zelda games never cease to amaze. The wind waker is another great chapter in the Legend of Zelda and the adventures of everyones favorite elf like hero Link. The cell animation is fantastic. It may look childish and cartoony, but the action is still top notch. If you are thinking about buying this game, do it quickly. They are only getting more expensive with time.
I had originally bought this game when it first came out, after I sold most of my gamecube games, I decided many years later to buy The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker again.
This game is absolutely fantastic. Especially for avid Zelda fans like myself. Its a completely new story for the Zelda series. The music in the game is great and extremely fitting. The fighting is also very neat and different. The story is truly unbelievable. Its a great game all around.
My only discrepancies on this game was the cell-shaded graphics. Giving it a whole new cartoon-look to it which I didn't care for. However these graphics make it fantastic for younger new Zelda fans to pick up on it. Regardless of the type of graphics, its an overall great game and having played through it for the second time, I love it even more then I did years ago.
