These are my favorite speakers of all due to the features on it. The other series they came out with doesn't have the same capabilities, in which I will NEVER purchase. They are a little bulkier than I'm used to but its worth it -- again the microphone and headset plugs plus with the 3D Surround Sound!! Simply amazing. I hope in the future Labtec and some of the other brands start putting back these features on them.
For their low cost, these are some of the best speakers out there. Not that they excel at anything, but they are just good
at work computer speakers that have Bass/Treble dial and
reproduce most medium to low volume sound accurately enough.
Many little speakers sound tinny or try to be bassy, and these
are just perfect of casual listening, background music.
In this price range, under $20, I don't thing there is
a better set of speakers, at least that I have listened to.
I should begin by qualifying myself as a writer. I am extremely educated and particular when it comes to my electronics. I have worked in professional audio, lighting, and technical roles for most of my life. I don't expect Genelec quality from a Labtec speaker (for those of you unfamiliar you can look up the comparison online). I honestly prefer even the clean "modern" lines and look of the Apple devices or accessories. Blacks, silvers, or stark whites evoke the sterility and cohesiveness of technology. The "stone" white of these speakers makes them an okay balance, but almost dates them to the generic beige of the computers of yesteryear. As for the technical aspect, they are reliable, produce appropriate levels of sound, and the "remote" headphone and microphone jacks on the front are a nice add-on for anyone who might use a Skype headset or do language software on a regular basis like I do and your computer doesn't have front panel jacks for this use. Overall I would rate them about a 7 out of 10 for quality. If I want really great audio I'll run a convertor or external audio interface and tie it into my home audio system. If you just want decent audio that is great for voice, acceptable for music and not half bad watching an iTunes movie, then these are a good choice.
This is the 2nd time around for me pertaining to Labtec Speakers ..... Very Nice Powerful sound & much, better then other speakers at this price range ... only drawback might be that the wire leading to the speaker itself can loosen a bit and cause a short in the speaker ... but it is not much of a concern just keep an eye on your wires and you will be Fine ....
