Full QWERTY keyboard; high-quality displays; EV-DO capable; MP3 player; Mini SD card slot; 1.3-megapixel camera; Bluetooth; loud stereo speakers/speakerphone; voice-recognition features.
Bulky; awkward camera ergonomics; small navigation controls; tiny screen type; tinny, metallic voice quality.
A QWERTY keyboard makes messaging faster, easier, and more fun on the fully loaded LG VX9800, but the trade-off is a bulky, less-than-cool handset.

This phone has a 1.3 MP camera built in. I suppose it takes better pictures than most cell phones, but I think it could have been a little better. (They now have a new phone, probably the vx9900 or something that has a 2 MP)
As far as the features go: mp3 player, nice size LCD screen, keyboard, 128mb internal memory, ability to add a mini-sd card, external small speakers, bluetooth ready and several other features.
The ability to play 3d/2d games, download software and tools (such as an ebay program) that lets you do anything from check the weather to check your "myebay".
The phone definitely has a lot of great tools built in.
The only thing I really can think of that I did not like was the camera lens has no cover...and 90% of the time when you hold the phone your finger is actually touching the lens. Or when you set the phone down you have to be gentle. They should have attached a lens cover/slider. That was the biggest problem I noticed.
***Update***
I'm still using the same phone years later. It is very durable! :)
This cellphone goes above and beyond any other Verizon Wireless phone. Equipped with a 1.3 megapixel camera, internet capabilities, and even on-the-go messaging service, this phone has it all. The LG9800 also lets the owner insert their own miniSD card into the slot located on the side of the phone to listen to music, view pictures, or add any other data on the card to their cellphone. The phones camera takes crystal clear pictures and also shoots 15 second videos. The internet service on it is spectacular. Browse any site you'd like, check your emails on multiple providers, or find our about your favorite movies. As for the messaging type out there(I for one am crazy about my AIM,)you can now acess you buddy list, by using MobileIM. Choose from AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, or MSN Messenger. As you can see, The LG9800 is the phone to have for the web savvy or just the person looking for a little fun. Some downfalls with the phone fall into the MobileWeb catagory. It often tell you that the site you're trying to preview is too big to fit the whole screen, so only a portion of the page will be shown. Unfortunately, my handset freezes when this happens, and has happened on other handsets, from what I've heard. I decided to buy this phone because it was the closest thing to a Sidekick II(or in my case, at the time I bought the phone, the Sidekick III.) But, as I've come to realize, this phone cannot even compare to the Sidekick family. I do love my phone very much, but I think the Sidekick is a better choice for me. Other than that, this is an amazing cellphone, and I would recommend it to people who want to keep in touch with friends and family, as well as get news at their fingertips.
love technical gizmos and after many years of owning used, purchased from E-bay, $25 phones, I went all out and bought from Verizon, with a 2 year contract, the ever so snazzy V phone. Since I travel all over going to horse shows, I wanted a means to get my email and check the web forums I belong to, and this phone was the answer. I have had it for 9 months now and the only problem I did encounter was that within 30 days the first one locked up and would not boot. I went to Verizon and got a replacement.
Features that I find very handy:
camera and camcorder-and the ease of sending these gems to folks, Internet access for email (Yahoo email works great!), Internet access for browsing the web, this is actually awesome! I can keep up with my news and forum sites all I want. the V-cast access is pretty fast, Bluetooth wireless headset and voice activation...heaven!,
The full keyboard makes text messaging a snap
Features that I don't use:
The V Cast video downloads, not enough of them, ringtones - I like the lady talking to me when someone calls, MP3 player - I do have a 1/2 gig card loaded with songs, but heck I have my Nano! A quick MP3 update... I actually find that the little boom box inside my phone is so good that I do use it as a stereo on occasion, and its not bad at all!
Another "like" about this phone is the battery. I never did purchase the longer life because the phone itself is already big enough. One day at work we were cramming through a bunch of tedious stuff in a big room. I had only one bar left on my phone but cranked the MP3 player and it lasted 2.5 hours on that last bar. I could not believe it!
PROS
Beautiful internal screen
Clear loud speakers.
Speaker phone that puts my 8100 to shame
Internal memory capacity
ABSOLUTELY NO CAMERA DELAY (which
was very annoying on my aforementioned
8100)
Text to speech...I love it
Ability to shoot close ups and
distant camera shots
GREAT reception and battery life.
QWERTY keyboard
Ear piece quality sending and receiving
Very solidly built
CONS
No leather case...other than a pouch
Inability to set phone to ONLY ring
in a headset
Keys are a little small but I am
adjusting well
Small outside screen
With the phone closed the speakers
are not as loud as my old 8100
I wish the cam had a lens cover
but how many phones do?
The pros of this phone heavily outweigh the cons. There are several thing I have yet to test such as the Mobile Web to see if it is true that this phone allows you to clink on pix when looking at sites. Also I hear that the Bluetooth headset capabilities of this phone are superior to my 8100.
This phone does everything I want it to. The keyboard is great for texting and writing notes in the notepad. There are so many great features about it. The only bad thing is you can't make any of "my sounds" set as your ringtone, alarm or calendar appts it has to be a "my ringtone" The speakerphone works great though, I have tested it on several people and they can't tell a difference when I switch to speakerphone and the sound is really clear on my end. the phone has a great camera and camcorder with a slot for a memory card so you can transfer pics from the phone to computer and also store songs on the card to play throught the MP3 player on the phone. Of course I could not get along without a calendar and this phone has a great one. I am definately enjoying it.
