The LG Venus has a unique dual-screen design with onscreen navigation controls that change layout depending on the application, plus it has vibrating feedback when touched. It also comes with a wealth of multimedia features, EV-DO support, plus great performance.
The LG Venus' touch screen is a bit gimmicky and takes some getting used to, and there aren't any touch-sensitivity settings for it. The camera has no flash and no self-portrait mirror.
The LG Venus is a beautiful slider phone with a great feature set, but we would recommend taking the time to get used to the unusual touch-screen controls.

I. Love. This. Phone. I bought this phone because 2 people very close to me had it on reserve when it first came out and loved it. Even after they'd upgrade, they'd end up on ebay just buying another one. Years and a bunch of POS phones later, I finally decided to invest in one. I couldn't be more pleased. Yes, the touch screen portion of the phone takes a bit to get used to, but honestly, I prefer it to the touch parts of the LG Chocolate. Plus, I once had the Chocolate Touch, and you could only use your fingernails or a stylis on that screen. With this screen, you can alternate between the pad of your finger and your fingernail.
The only thing I haven't liked about it so far is the fact that for whatever reason, I couldn't get back up assistant to run, so I had to manually input all my contacts. But that could have been an issue with Verizon, not the phone.
Otherwise, I love this phone and plan on keeping it until it completely conks out.
I bought this phone as my first cell phone, and for about a month was completely in love with it. The touch screen was cool, the camera was flashy, and I had just gotten my first cell phone. The camera still did its job well, but 2 1/2 years later I am disillusioned with and resentful of this model. There is no efficient way of transferring contacts, music, pictures, ring tones, calendar events, or any other such items to the phone using a Macintosh OS. I was able to receive contact cards and store them on my computer, which is nice, and I was able to get music onto the phone by putting it on a microSD card using an adapter other than that on the phone. This is almost to be expected of many phones, but there are other flaws that soon came to fruition. The phone is incredibly fragile. I have broken 3 models of the phone, and had to replace them. While I had subscribed for insurance, there was still a 50.00 deductible and it meant that I paid $5.99 a month extra. The current model that I have, which is broken and will not be replaced (except by a different phone), is in complete disrepair. The screws holding the sliding mechanism have broken (soldered screws, so I can't replace them) and the two parts are only being held together by the data strip, which as started to rip as a result. I have been using a rubber-band to hold the phone together for multiple weeks. As a result of the data strip starting to rip, the microphone stopped working on the phone, and therefore became useless to make or receive calls. A day later the screen went blank, rendering the phone useless entirely. Even before the phone broke in half, the keys on the side started failing, first the music/unlock key (quite frustrating because of unlock, meaning I had to slide it open to unlock it), and then the camera button. I do not believe that I treated the phone with destructive disregard, as I don't drop it or throw it around. The one time that I did drop it (this was the first model), the phone completely died, without any visible damage. This was a 3 foot drop, from my hand hanging down at my side to the ground. Overall, I just wish that this phone were more sturdy, as it is so fragile to the point that I would recommend that everyone steer clear of it.
This is one of the best phones I have used overall. I have had my phone for about two years now and I dropped it several times. My phone still works like it is brand new. I love everything about this phone. I wish it had one more option. For an example; being able to assign a different text tone to each individual person. But overall that does not matter when it comes to this phone. The touch screen is awesome and you can use it on a pre-paid service without needing all those annoying data plans that charge an arm, leg, and a few fingers. It does a have a little delay with the touch screen but what phone does not. If you are wanting a stylish, good looking phone, easy to handle, and one that you will want for a life time this is the right phone for you. It is a universal phone; men or women can use it. The camera quality is pretty good and speaker works excellent. I really love the fact you can play music and still do what needs to be done. This is one excellent phone. You need to buy yourself one or two; heck why not for the whole family and friends. I love it.
love it works great very easy to use battery life is good great sound claritey but kind of sensitive to touch can make a mistake on the touch screen
I bought the Venus after a process of elimination of the current and somewhat limited selection of available Verizon phones - as I am pleased with the flawless past performance experienced with Verizon service I couldn't rationalize switching carriers for the sake of increasing phones selection.
The Venus has surpassed all expectations for excellent perfomance on all counts. The sound clarity is excellent, the camera and interface is excellent, the MP3 player interface is acceptable and the stereosound quality excellent (even with various blue tooth stereo listening devices - which work fabuously) the touch controls are easy to use and the variable button layout advantage is well utilized. I like the sharpness of the screen although quite difficult to read in bright sunlight, the battery life is exceptional, the slide mechanism is pleasing and efficient to use, and the size of the phone is just within a comfortable fit and weight for my pocket. Dialing numbers buttons are exceptionally tactile and easy to access without missed presses. My only gripe with the design is I sometimes mistakenly try to use the phone up-side-down which would be rectified if the top end of the phone looked different from the bottom. I used the bitpim software to transfer and store contacts with good success. I find the memo feature (built-in digital recorder) useful and again, good quality sound, great storage capacity with 4 gig micro SD card which I use to store music, memo recordings and photos.
I like this phone and would buy it again without hesitation at the $260 price that I paid.
