We wanted phones with Qwerty keyboards for texting and a fair sized number pad for calls. I wanted a better camera than what it has but it does have higher megapixels than the old phones. We did not want any data features. It is data ready however. The phone is a nice weight - a bit heavier than the Motorola phones we are replacing. The shell on the phone itself is slippery and we added hard rubber cases that provide some traction so its easier to hold onto. I set several alarms throughout the day and those work well as a reminders. Its an alarm clock and it has a snooze button but it does have to be answered or it keeps on ringing or beeping until you take action so its a useful tool. There are several sound choices for the alarm clock. The sound quality is good. When the speaker is ON the sound is so slight that I can't tell what they're saying and I think ear phones will be necessary to hear it. I haven't checked that yet. We have also ordered micro SD cards separately. The pressure required to activate the screens or buttons is just right for me. On other devices I've found it very hard to get just the right touch. The keyboard is small as you would expect but I found it surprisingly easy to type a message. The last row of characters is the bottom row and has the space key in that row. Its not a problem just something to be aware of. We decided on this phone specifically (with all other things being pretty much equal in the other phones that made it to the final list) because it has the touch screen phone dialing number pad. Other phones we looked at had a keypad built in on the front of the phone and that took space away from the screen which is a nice size on this LG Extravert Cell Phone. The number pad is only in place when its needed, not all the time taking up space. I've not accessed all the options yet but the ones I've used so far are pleasant and attractive easy.
Well, the bottom line is that for the value, this is a good phone. But if you're buying for the touch screen, I'd reconsider. If you've ever handled a smartphone or a tablet, you'll feel that this phones touch screen is a bit off. You have to apply a good bit of pressure for it to recognize your input, and around the edges of the screen it's nearly impossible for your touch to register.
It also has a tendency to lose connection with the SD card. To fix this, you have to take the back plate off, pull out the card and reinsert it. For this reason, you want your pictures to save to the phone itself rather than the card, else you may lose that perfect shot you just made.
Speaking of which, the camera is pretty decent. As with most phone cameras you have to hold it very very steady so that your photo has no blur and no matter how long you let it focus, up close photos will never be very clear. Also keep in mind that this phone has no flash.
MP3 playback has a tendency to skip from time to time. I'm uncertain as to whether or not setting it to MP3 mode only solves this problem.
The apps that come with the phone trials and you have pay to continue using them. You will not wish too however, as none of them are very useful and there aren't many in the app store at all.
Battery life is decent and I've had no issue with the battery itself.
If you can find this phone used for between $30-$40, I'd say purchase it without a second thought. It's hands down worth that investment. I cannot recommend paying full price though. There are better options out there.
This is a great touch screen prepaid phone. It's cost effective and is still up to current technological standards. Great music great sound, fast internet. You can watch youtube videos on it. It has a full html web browser.
The only issue I've had is with replying to text messages. Sometimes, I'll click send, and it will say recipient not specified, even though it was indeed specified.
Other than that, this is a great phone! I don't use cell phones much, but I wanted to look modern while getting the cheap prepaid rates offered by Verizon. LG has given me that.
i upgraded from an LG Accolade to this LG Extravert slider/Touch about 5/2012 and so for the only main draw back that i can see is that unless you record a video using the ph the extravert does Not play ANIMATION of any kind ,other then that i have good size fingers so i have to watch how i type on the qwerty key pad but on a scale of 1 to 5 i would give it a 4 would recommend
This phone is sturdy and conveniently accessible. It is great with service due to it being with the Verizon carrier. Overall a good product and should be recommended to many other potential buyers.
