My new favorite phone

Review For: LG EnV2 VX9100 - Maroon (Verizon) Smartphone
I've got to say I did my homework on cell phones before deciding on buying one. I knew I didn't want a data plan, battery life was crucial, and it needed a full keyboard. I skipped over the voyager because I assumed the touch screen would be a mild burden on the battery so I went with the env2. I'm glad I read the reviews and found this phone because it has battery life for days, the full keyboard has tons of room to type, I text heavily and if for some reason I'm driving and get a text this phone will read it out loud to me with the press of a few buttons so I don't have to look down. That is probably my favorite feature.
I looked around and a lot of people commented on the fact that the keypad would dial out in your pocket, the music player would sometimes freeze, and that there was a drain on the battery with V06 of the firmware. Mine came with V06 on the phone so I had the firmware updated to V07 and from that point added 2.0GB of music to my 8.0GB microSD card and other than the 45 second wait time to have the library update itself, it played flawlessly. I know that the phone offers a two step unlock for the keypad so I set that up and now you have to hit a button, then ok, and the clr to get the phone to unlock. For me, I haven't had the phone dial out at all. It works like a charm. I had a Samsung Alias before and even though the profile on it was smaller the keyboard was crazy small. Took me almost a year to be able to type without looking. It's been about 5 days and the only keys I can't find without looking are the space key and the shift key. But I will get those two down eventually.
The clarity on the phone is amazing. My phone calls people said I sounded very clear and this phone gets significantly better signal than my Alias. It recognized my Jabra BT8040 easily, paired very quickly and usually on the first try (unlike my Alias). The sound on my end is superb. People sound crystal clear and is significantly loud enough. It has pretty good standard ringtones and they have a feature on the alarm clock that allows you to set the alarms to only go off on weekdays. Since I use this phone as my backup alarm clock that is an awesome feature. I don't have to disable them Friday night so I can sleep Saturday and Sunday morning.
Overall this phone was a phenomenal purchase. I love texting on it and the battery life alone was enough to make this phone worth the price. It's just icing on the cake that it sounds so good on top of all of that. I definitely give this phone a 5 out of 5.

Surprising Features, Amazing Phone

Review For: LG EnV2 VX9100 - Maroon (Verizon) Smartphone
Pros: keyboard, speakers, battery life, customizations (endless shortcuts that you can choose from), storage capacity, durability, reception

Cons: camera is in a somewhat awkward location because my finger seems to always rest on the lens

Summary: purchased this phone with a 2-yr renewal, and have had it for a little under a week now. sound quality and reception is amazing. even on speakerphone, i'm told it sounds like a land line. the full QWERTY keyboard is handy and feels very natural; i've been texting a lot more because this is so much faster than T9 predictive text. although the camera is great, it's in a spot that happens to sit right beneath my fingers when i have the phone open.. so, a little tricky in that regard, but that's really grasping at straws obviously. ringtones are loud and clearly audible. the front screen could stand to be a tad bigger, but it's still highly functional and has fantastic resolution. i purchsed the mobile email for $5 a month, so it's like a blackberry, but far more user-friendly. a useful little feature of this phone is a service verizon offers for free called vcast songID. it's song recognition software that's free. i even set it as a shortcut so that i can identify a song with the touch of a single key.

as a stand-alone phone, it's stellar. between the ever-lasting battery life, sound quality, and reception, it's worth every penny. factor in the size and comfort of it in your hands, and it's the best phone around; not to mention the operating system is easy to use and makes sense.

make no mistake... this is so much more than a phone. it's a multimedia/emailing/messaging machine that will keep you in contact with everyone you know, and amuse you all the while

Review For: LG EnV2 VX9100 - Maroon (Verizon) Smartphone
My favorite all time cell phone! Let me share the reasons:
I researched cell phones to use on Verizon's 'Prepaid Plan' and learned that the scope of phone choices was more narrow than anticipated. I ordered three, only to send each back in frustration and money spent in return postage. (Two required data plans that were not disclosed by either Verizon or the sellers, and one did not activate at all). An especially helpful Verizon rep suggested the LG as a 'rugged' alternative. The vx9100 is all I anticipated and more: out of the box the texture is pleasing, not hard plastic, but a softer feel. The face is easy to navigate and the outside screen is large enough to view contacts/messages/incoming calls/messages with ease. To add to the package, the querty keyboard is perfect for hands, both feminine/smaller and masculine/larger. The phone is seemingly intuitive and not difficult to quickly have a grasp on shortcuts and set up for personal preferences. Photos surprisingly clear and buttons for all functions well placed and easily accessed. The phone fits naturally in the hand and is not bulky. The vx9100 is replacing my Motorola E815, which I thought could never be replaced ... thankfully I was wrong! The LG is a worthy replacement ... and feels so much more elegant. An excellent choice for the user is looking for great reception, long battery life and clarity when talking with friends.

Easy to use, Easy to enjoy!

Review For: LG EnV2 VX9100 - Maroon (Verizon) Smartphone
This phone is awesome! I am big into texting and this phone makes it so easy. The keys are easy to hit without hitting any of the other keys by mistake. If you can't open the phone at the time you can still text the "old" way by using the front keypad. Camera picture quality is amazing! At first I thought it might be big for my pocket but it is actually quite slim. The features are plain and simple; you don't have to go through 20 screens just to set a feature like you do with Motorola phones. I've NEVER had an LG that I didn't love and it still looks like they have a perfect track record with me. FYI: If you have a Revol account and you are buying this to "Flash" over to Revol; you can still use the phone but chances of you being able to send pictures or receive them is very slim and they can't transfer the contact book (Unfortunately I have Revol and the flashing over didnt' work well for me, but I do have full use of text messaging and calling.)

LG EnV2 SWOT

Created: 09/08/09
Review For: LG EnV2 VX9100 - Maroon (Verizon) Smartphone
LG EnV2 VX9100 S.W.O.T
Strengths as far as the eye can see that are usable features include the beautifully assembled and designed keyboard. This keyboard is one that has been very popular which I keep buying. I desire a keyboard that is built slim and is spaceable to use. A+ Qwerty Keyboard Design, Feel, Abilities. One strength that this has over many other competing cellulars is the advantages of simplified usage. I can browse the internet on my large enough to view screen with a flip and push of a button, I can then play my music with a pre-programmed button and do what I do best, text, at a comfortable conveniences. This is a stylish, easy to use piece of technology which will be a favorite for many upgrades to come. A+
A weakness that I feel this phone has is the compatibility of it's gps software to work with other cdma providers. I have noticed that some of the latest phones gps software is compatible to other cdma providers which I do appreciate most. That is the only weakness that I feel has bothered me in my LG EnV2 Experience. D-
This phone, I believe has no threats, as of what has been released, against non-touch flip keyboarded cdma cellulars. This is the best qwerty keyboard flip that in non-touch. A+
Opportunities are endless with the LG EnV once you figure out all of the possible advantages for a non-touch qwerty flip. A

This is overall a great phone that I would not think twice about at a great price.
