18th Century Love Prose to the Vu.

Created: 10/12/10
So, there I was: Stuck with a five year old flip phone that was far past the age it should have given up the ghost. I set out to find a new confidant and holder of contacts. I have had good luck with LG phone's in the past (I had an all to brief, yet passionate love affair with an EnV3), so I narrowed my search to that brand. I am a fervent texter, and not one given to making many calls, so a messaging phone was the order of the day.

I was considering a Xenon, as Qwerty is a must for me and it seemed to fill the bill, when one day as I strolled thru the dirty ill-lit corridors of my local Walmart I saw the Vu on display. I admit at first I was coy. I merely danced up to it, flirting with the idea of courting it for my own. I then got up the courage to make a full inquiry as to it's assets. I discovered a wealth of features (all that I could want and more in fact), including a passable camera, respectable sound quality and the capacity to store and play full mp3 audio, good capacity for video, and of course all that little things that are expected such as alarm, calendar, and the like. These are merely trifles tho. I admit myself superficial, as the real fun was to be had in the appearance of the thing. Nice casing, reminiscent in fact of a less reflective Shine. It is no dainty thing, that I admit. Not so large as to be cumbersome to venture abroad with, but still perhaps enough so to put off those more inclined to the diminutive. As for myself, I prefer a bit of heft in my devices, so that pleased me well.

The decisive part of course of any such device that thrives on touch is how is responds to such stimuli. Here as well , I am proud to say, it performs admirably. I am not normally given to appreciate a touch-screen interface, so finding that this one suited my means was a surprise most pleasant. It comes with no stylus, so one must not be shy to get well acquainted with it. It responds in a timely and nicely precise means to the desires of its operator. A bit of practice may be necessary, I had a bit of trouble learning to properly aim for full key texting, but the payoff is well worth it.

I have not yet tested the TV tuning ability of the device, odd perhaps since it is its biggest claim, but with a large, crisp display such as it has, I've little doubt but that it would be a pleasure to view.

Overall, this is a great, and really nice looking, messaging phone that can be got quite a bit cheaper than some of the other options for touch-screen phones. It comes with a lot of bells and whistles, but nothing really show-stopping. The components combine to form a solid package tho. I wouldn't recommend it if you are the type that just doesn't think they can get over the all-touch hump tho, and there is just no way to use it otherwise. I would also not advise it if it is for a younger user, or if you are especially clumsy, as if the screen is damaged its over. It can take more punishment than you would think, but it is by no means created for roughing it. In the end, a great phone that offers an nice alternative to the Big Two in touch screens.

Sleek-Lots of features

Created: 01/21/10
I bought this phone cuz my Sony S710 finally took a dump after I dropped it one to many times. I still miss that phone. I thought I would like the touch screen but I'm still undecided bout that. On some things its great but others its just downright infuriating. Mostly if you want to scroll thru something its real hit or miss, and there's no other way of getting around. I have the best luck using a pencil with an eraser as a stylus. Especially the qwerty. Fat fingers? Forget it. It can do a ton of stuff but if you don't buy the service(s) then its pretty much just another phone. Didn't come with a single non-demo game. Its also kinda irritating having to push the unlock key on the side of the phone twice every time you want to do anything. The time and date are right in the middle of the screen and you cant turn it off or move it so if you have a cool pic you want to put on you wallpaper make sure that whats important is either just a little above or below right across the middle of the screen! Also I thought it was strange that the phone can 'make an animated GIF' but it wont work as a wallpaper.??? The speaker phone works quite well. I'm not sure if I like the size as its hard to do anything but hold it or put it down or pocket it. Not terribly impressed with the camera/corder and it doesn't have a flash or flashlight (my old Sony did!) It didn't really help take pics unless it was pitch black out, but I cant tell you how many times I whipped it out to see in the dark. This phone can use an unknown size micro SD. I've seen ppl say they have an 8 gig. I have a 2 gig and that's more than enough given how difficult is scrolling through files. I think I like it but IDK yet.

This phone is a bit difficult to work with. I love the touch screen feature(reason I bought it) but if u don't lock it n ur talking on the phone it will open other apps n its confusing. The alarm app is very limited u really can't add a whole lot if u have alot of reminders. The botton on the lower face to make a call n end it is so narrow n not bumpy at all which makes it hard to actually make the call or end it u pratically have to use ur fingernail. The battery life sucks it drains it so quick it's ridiculous. I bought this phone because I previously owned an LG Xenon I loved it so much n unfortunately I dropped it n broke but buying the LG Vu was a big mistake I don't like the phone at all n it's the reason I gave it a 2star. Next time I'll spend a little more n get something thats actually worths my money!

lg vu and TERRIBLE ATT SERVICE

Created: 11/21/09
The phone is good. But on the other hand AT&T is a bunch of Bull SH*T. Apparantly the phone cannot access the Mobile TV service because its being operated on Pre - Paid even though when we went into the store and told them we wanted to connect the phone and be able to use the TV. That's what we were promised and we did not recieve what we asked for. It cost 27. dollars for a sim card i might now be stuck with. Then the gas money, then the process of activating the phone almost took 2 hours. When we were in the store the worker at the desk was put on hold numerous times and while that happened, they ignored me and my family and went on to help other customers. Then the customer service rep on the phone starts getting into an arguement with the ATT rep from the store.
ATT should have no problem adding Mobile TV. The service is only 10 dollars a month for non-pre pay, so why cant pre - paid have it? Well anyways expect terrible service period. Mobile Tv should be available for both pre-paid and non, but of course its not. Then the reps will lie to your face promise you something you cant have.
Then to me ATT is ATT, why do have to talk to so many departments just to get to what i want? Then when i returned home to find out the service wasn't equipped i tried to call to refund my money was another hour long process and i still have to go return this sim card and hook up the regular service, which equals out to a whole day wasted and more money lost because of bad service.
