This is a fantastic story of overcoming great obstacles that anyone can learn a lesson from. Po, an overweight Panda, works every day in his family's noodle shop. His Father, Mr. Ping (voice of James Hong) eventually wants Po to take over the noodle shop, but Po has larger dreams. Little does he know that somehow fate will somehow befall him.
Po is soon chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy. Po joins the world of Kung Fu and begins to train with the Legendary - Furious Five - Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper, and Monkey. Shifu is the Kung Fu Master and wise trainer. Many events try and keep Po from becoming a true Dragon Warrior.
The tortoise Master Oogway (Randall Duk Kim) has a premonition that the evil snow leopard warrior Tai Lung (Ian McShane), the former student of his own protégé, the red panda Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman), will escape from prison and return to threaten the Valley of Peace.
The Five battle Tai Lung but are eventually defeated. All except Crane are paralyzed by a special nerve-striking technique, and he manages to carry his friends back to the valley. When they return, Shifu decides Po is ready to open the sacred Dragon Scroll, which promises great power to its possessor. However, when Po opens it, he finds nothing but a blank reflective surface. Stricken with despair at the scroll's apparent worthlessness, Shifu orders his students to lead the villagers to safety while he stays to delay Tai Lung for as long as he can.
Po meets up with his father, who tells him the secret ingredient of the family's noodle soup: NOTHING! Things become special, because people believe them to be special.
VOICES INCLUDE:
Jack Black - Po
Dustin Hoffman - Shifu
Seth Rogen - Mantis
Angelina Jolie - Tigress
Jackie Chan - Monkey
Lucy Liu - Viper
James Hong - Mr Ping
5/5 RATING.

Love it! The story was great and the background was beautiful, it really felt like an ancient Chinese city. This original story is one of the best since Shrek. And the meaning behind the story may be even better! The story is about Po, an overweight panda who is the son of a noodle maker, who dreams of Po following in his footsteps. But Po longs to be a ninja fighter. Po is as you know is a panda bear and the film's unlikely hero: as the bigger than life and completely lovable bear voiced by the comic genius Jack Black. Po is a Sweet but clumsy, bear who hears the news the ancient and long awaited dragon warrior will be named, so he runs (as much as he can) to hear who will be named at the celebration.
Without giving too much away, when an "accident" seems to name Po as the dragon warrior (much to the horror of Master Shifu (voiced perfectly by Dustin Hoffman) and the disappointment of Furious Five: Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Viper (Lucy Liu), Mantis (Seth Rogen), Crane (David Cross) and Monkey (Jackie Chan). Shifu must find a way to train him. One hilarious moment after another continues until Shifu recognizes Po's true driving force. This is just in time as the villain Tai Lung (Ian McShane), a snow leopard has returned as he believe is the true Dragon Warrior.
I can not recommend this movie enough. Certainly this is marketed for the kids – but the whole family will enjoy it
We love Kung Fu Panda! I think my kids and I have watched it 100 times already.
We have it in our car, so I usually only get to hear the movie, which with other movies gets boring after a few times, but Kung Fu Panda just doesn't. The dialog and sound effects are so clever and entertaining in themselves that I don't mind hearing it over and over.
But when I do get to actually see the movie, it is even more clever, like when Po is locked out of the Jade palace and no one hears him banging on the doors, because he is matching the beat of the drums. Little things like that are funny.
My favorite part of the whole movie is when Po embraces who he is and tells Tai-lung that he is not "a big fat panda, I'm THEE big fat panda!"
Casting did such a great job. Of course, we all love Jack Black as Po, but I love all of the voices especially when Dustin Hoffman as Master Shifu asks who will be worthy enough to be the dragon warrior and Randall Duk Kim, as the all knowing Oogway, says, "I don't know."
The release of this score is somewhat historic (in a sense). It marks the reuniting of John Powell with his mentor and friend, Hans Zimmer. It's been 8 years since the two have worked together on a score, and that was back in 2000 on The Road To El Dorado. Since then Powell has established himself as one of Hollywood's best and most demanded composers.
For Kung Fu Panda the two have created an epic score that utilizes both of their styles. The first track kicks things off in a grandiose style with some signature Powell percussion and trumpets. The theme for the film is very simple. Just a descending set of notes with a distinctive Chinese influence. Zimmer has a few Asian influenced scores under his belt. He worked with a Japanese sound for Black Rain and The Last Samurai. More appropriately he scored an amazing theme for Chow Yun-Fat's character from Singapore in Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End. The Chinese sound incorporated into this score is not dominating but more so incorporated into their styles.
Zimmer's distinct way of structuring long action sequences can be heard in the track "Tai Lung Escapes", which is 7 minutes long. Zimmer's trademark sounds can also be heard in "Sacred Pool Of Tears" which is the album's longest track coming in at nearly 10 minutes and in my opinion is one of the best tracks on the score. We have around 58 minutes of score on this CD with the last track being a 2 minute song. That is highly impressive for an animated film. Bravo to Interscope records for this release.
The score is simply a wonder. It starts off light with some bounce to it but ends up being an epic sounding experience. Having both Hans and John behind the helm of this was terrific and it was truly special for me to hear them together again. Hans Zimmer is the greatest composer working today and John Powell is right behind him because it was Zimmer who nurtured those talents and allowed Powell to become the composer he is today. These are two composers with their own distinctive voices that share a similar style and together they have produced a very fun and memorable score.
