|The Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z6 incorporates its 12x optical Mega Zoom lens and large 2.0-inch LCD monitor into a compact and easy to hold camera design. The DiMAGE Z6's built-in 12x optical zoom lens and 4x digital zoom capability combine for a total zoom range of 48x.In addition, Konica Minolta's proprietary CCD-shift Anti-Shake system - the same system used in Konica Minolta's top-of-the-line Maxxum 7D digital Single Lens-Reflex (SLR) camera, and first featured in Konica Minolta's DiMAGE A series of digital cameras - allows photographers to shoot with shutter speeds four to eight times longer (2-3 stops) than when shooting without an Anti-Shake system. The system also provides steady, shake-free images in twilight or other dimly lit situations, which are susceptible to blurring because of the slow shutter speeds used. This means significantly sharper images even without the use of a flash or tripod. The DiMAGE Z6 has everything photographers need to take high-quality pictures: 6.0 effective megapixels, high-performance GT APO lens, and Konica Minolta's proprietary CxProcess III image processing technology, which gives users images as beautiful as those they see with their own eyes. Thanks to its energy-efficient design, the Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z6 lets users enjoy picture-taking longer with four widely available AA Alkaline batteries that power the camera for up to approximately 240 shots, as well as compatibility with high-capacity rechargeable Ni-MH batteries for up to approximately 420 shots. To ensure that photographers don't miss a shot, the DiMAGE Z6 offers ultra-fast, accurate Rapid AF with Predictive Focus Control. Focusing in a mere 0.2 second at the wide-angle zoom position and only 0.3 second at the telephoto position, the DiMAGE Z6 is ideal for accurately capturing any subject, moving or still. In addition to high-precision Rapid AF, the DiMAGE Z6 features a fast startup time and short shutter-release lag time. In addition, the camera's Progressive Capture drive mode records images continuously at approximately 1.8 frames per second regardless of image size or quality, and saves the last 10 frames simply by releasing the shutter button.|

12X zoom lens; Anti-Shake image stabilization; broad feature set; extremely close macro focus; flexible continuous-shooting modes; compact SLR-style body.
Subpar EVF; less-than-stellar photo quality; movie mode downgraded to 320x240 resolution.
Compact and affordable, the image-stabilized megazoom Konica Minolta Dimage Z6 delivers a solid feature set. Finicky photographers may take issue with its image quality, though.

This is a great starter camera that you can grow into very quickly. It is made for the novice or the more sophisticated photographer. CCD image stabilizing allows for long, stable shoots and has many lens accessories, filters and extensions available. Great for up close macro shooting and also great for landscapes. Sleek style is not cumbersome. Compares very well with the Canon AE series and the Nikon X700 series. I recommend this camera highly. The Z6 is the mother lode of SLR professionalism and the simplicity of Digital. Large 2.1 inch screen allows for easy set-up and simple editing procedures. Video movies are clear and can be moderately edited for length using the camera. Software is great for print and some less sophisticated photo shop procedures.I have had over a dozen Cameras, Canons, Nikons, and Olympus. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS CAMERA! BUY 5 of em, you will not be disappointed!
The camera takes excellent pictures but I give it only an average rating for the following reasons. I suggest buying rechargeable batteries because this camera will drain regular batteries very quickly. There are a number of adjustments you can make on this camera and you will need to do just that depending on the situation. If you are taking still photos then it is a easy and great camera to use and you will get quality photos. If on the other hand you are taking pictures of your children or things that move you need to make the appropriate adjustments to the settings to avoid blurry pictures. While I do like the camera to be honest for normal picture taking you may get better results from a less epensive point and shoot camera. I have this camera and also a Cannon and an HP. To take a quick picture and not have to fiddle with adjusting the settings my wife's HP is the camera we use most. For close up shots and more professional applicaions the Minolta is a very good camera.
I've owned one of these for MANY years and loved it! My favorite part is the macro's. I've gone as far as to put the lens ON a flower petal and taken UNREAL pictures of the morning dew ON the petal.
The only cons that I've run into is the weight. With four "AA" batteries, it does tend to weigh a little bit. Another "problem" is that I have YET to find a REASONABLY priced camera that will take SHARP pictures in LOW light without the flash. WITH the flash, it's excellent, but if you're taking pictures of say, LED lighting on a motorcycle at night, it doesn't turn out all that great.
Overall, you will NOT be disappointed with this camera, easy to use, yet some of the BEST photo's I've seen.
I always wanted to try the Z6 and so here it is. In general a very poor camera, but good optics, macro ability, and 12 zoom with anti shake that seems to work. The ergonamics and feel of the camera are outstanding as it feels a natural part of your hand. However, must shoot in ISO 50, anything more has lots of noise. The camera is forever wanting to over expose and so pictures must be shot at -1. Also general image quality is poor. The auto features are weak and useless. Battery life is OK as long as you are using rechargable. Slow to focus AF. Also no TIFF or RAW ability for higher quality image. The camera makes you work!
I had a Dimage S414 which has excellent optics and photo quality so was hoping for more from the Z6.
This is one solid camera. Feels good in my hands. To buy a similar one that is new would be quite a bit more costly. Having a good time learning its features. I find the manual easy to understand.
The only thing lacking is the ability to use larger capacity SDHC cards; it accepts only SD cards and they are 2 GB maximum. So for video I've reduced the resolution to extend the time of the video and I bought two additional cards should I need more time.
