Product Information
Powerful Mega Zoom lets you fill the frame with a distant subject. It starts with a 36-290 mm 8x optical zoom for stunningly powerful shots of far-off objects. And there's 4x digital zoom to take the number up to an astonishing 32x total zoom, giving you the creative control you want for beautiful, imaginative photography.DiMAGE Z20 features Konica Minolta's high-speed, Rapid AF(Auto Focus). This hybrid system - a combination of a passive AF sensor and a video AF system - achieves superbly accurate focusing in just 0.3 seconds at both wide-angle and telephoto positions, to assure you of beautifully-focused results, quickly and automatically. Predictive Focus Control assesses the motion of moving subjects to deliver sharper images. An advanced algorithm judges where your subject will be when the shutter is released, and sets focus accordingly, so you can capture sharper images of moving subjects.Turn power on and in just 0.5 seconds, DiMAGE Z20 is ready to capture beautiful images - the fastest startup time for any camera in this class. Shutter release time lag, another critical factor in camera response, is also extremely short at only 0.04 seconds. And DiMAGE Z20 takes just 1.5 seconds between one shot and the next. With Progressive Capture you keep on shooting until you capture the moment you're waiting for. In this continuous shooting mode, you just hold the shutter button down until you're satisfied. And when you release the button, DiMAGE Z20 records the last six shots in the sequence.DiMAGE Z20 boasts a 5.0-megapixel primary color CCD and incorporates Konica Minolta's exclusive CxProcess III image processing technology to deliver beautifully clear, detailed images even at full zoom. You'll especially notice the fine detail and natural color reproduction when you make large-size prints up to 35 cm x 26 cm (14 inches x 10 inches) at 150dpi print resolution. When you want to capture moments in motion, DiMAGE Z20 can record 15fps VGA (640x480) movies, perfect for playback your PC monitor. You also have the choice of QVGA (320x240) recording at a smooth 30 fps or 15 fps. Mega Zoom, autofocusing, and Night Movie are all available for high-quality movies under a range of conditions. And as an added plus, Movie Frame Capture lets you save individual frames from your favorite scenes as still images. Use both 8x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom when shooting movies in exactly the same way as when taking still shots. So you can zoom in close to the action from a distance and enjoy all the same exciting creative possibilities.

Reviews & Research

CNET Editors' reviewGood

Broad zoom range; pleasing control layout; low power consumption; EVF has excellent refresh rate.

No image stabilization; memory card can become dislodged from slot; tendency toward underexposure; noise levels occasionally high.

While the Dimage Z20 is a reasonably priced camera with pleasing performance, we'd prefer to see more consistent image quality and image stabilization on the 8X zoom lens.

my single lens kmd

Man I love this camera. Ive been looking at slr digital for two years. I finally settled down to the resolve that I was only able to afford a used slr. Then thx to Ebay I found a real single lens reflex camera i could afford. I take a lot of close ups of insects and flowers and cameras with a view finder just dont give you the true location to the lens. The dimage works great Im still trying to learn all of the functions on the camera and the functions are pretty easy to figure out. I also like the way that the batteries last so long. I haven changed them yet and I have taken over a hundred pictures I think. It incredibly light weight you can hardly tell that it there at all.
I saw the camera on an ebay special, it came with a stand, a battery charger, a carrying case and a one gig card for about two hundred bucks, man that was a steal. I didnt notice that the camera was a refurbished unit after totaly reading the promotion, I got it any way. I have been telling all my friends who need a camera to buy the same package. I will be teaching a digital photography class to high school students I am going to recomend to the students who can afford to buy a digital camera to buy this one.
At present I am in costa rica and some time getting things faxes to the states is a problem so my camera doubles as a fax machine with my computer. I am going to try videos next, Man this thing is a godsend. Now heres is the kicker. Ebay asked me to write a review about buying stuff on ebay and gave me a choice of the dimage and another camera. the strange coincidence is that I own booth cameras but I chose the dikage camera, Man I have died and went to camera heaven thanks Ebay.

"I can't Hear You!"

I just bought a NEW Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z20. I am a Big fan of these Konica Minolta cameras. I had purchased 2 of them a few years ago and the camera is very lightweight yet Durable- read this as "my kids dropped them quite a few times " The DiMAGE Z20 takes pictures that rival those of some more expensive cameras, the colors are rich and full with nice contrast. These cameras offer you alot of settings and features that i do not use because i am really an ametuer, but it functions as easily as most point and shoots. This camera is also very light when compared to a comparable Kodak camera my friend purchased around the same time.
The only shortcoming i found is...the camera does not seem to have audio! That's right, no sound with those video clips. But hey, i got mine to take pictures at football games and track meets. It is a fine choice for under $200

great camera

like the feel of the camera. I`m not the type that likes the little flat cameras. This feels like what a real camera should feel like. I would recomend it. you don`t need anything more than 5 mega pixels to take standard photos.
The quality of the picture is excelent in my opinion. very adjustable yet user friendly.

great camera

While I wouldn't quite call it excellent. It is a great little camera, with alot of options you don't get in the pocket cameras. It takes beautiful pictures. Even as close as 0.5 inch away for supurb detail.

Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z20 5.2 Megapixel Digital Camera

This is a outstanding digital camera, for its age. There only seems to be a couple of problems, and that is: 1. It's not capable of wide angle shots. (To gain such shots, on must spend an estimated $140.00 upon a wide angle lens, that is really nothing more, then a fish eye.) 2. Video has no sound capabilities.

Other then the above mentioned faults, this is a mighty good all around camera.
