I found the Minolta 4000af electronic flash to be a good value when found in an attractive price. It has most of the features of more expensive units brought on the market later. The only missing feature I personally miss is a swiveling head feature as well as the variable bounce settings. These are particularly useful in units such as the Metz handle mount models so often used by event photographers. This is a lighter, more compact model so one has some tradeoff value to make a judgment value in favor of or against.

For an old 35mm camera junkie like myself, this is an excellant multi featured flash. The tilting & rotating feature is what I like the best. I can re-direct the flash to eliminate glare spots, even when shooting with mirrow backgrounds (something I haven't figured out how to do with digital stuff). The only downside I see is that the unit is bulky & almost bigger than the camera itself. An acceptable trade off considering the features I want.

I bought this to work with my Sony NEX-7 as an off camera flash and it works great! I feel like it adds a whole new dimension to my photography. Also works great with an adapter as an on camera flash!

perfect flash, need some bettter battery but my pictures now are really nice ilumination i really recomended.
