I'm not a big tech guy. I like my stuff basic and easy to use(and understand). My wife needed a new camera(she takes all the pictures). She also discovered Face Book. A friend showed me his new Canon touch screen camera and I really liked it. I just did not want to spend $300. I was at BB looking at their camera display and spotted this Kodak. My first thought was that Kodak only made 'cheap' cameras , but this looked pretty cool. No nonsense design style with high tech features. Really liked the touch screen which was surprisingly intuitive(even for me). So I checked on ebay and bought one on auction for less than 1/2 the Canon price. I read the online manual before getting it , so I understood a little about it before arrival. I also read about some firmware updates that were recommended. As soon as I received the camera , I went on Kodaks website for the download. This is the only difficult part of owning this device. The firmware installation instructions are very convoluted (for me anyway)as you need to download the program to a mirco sd card (not included) and install 2 separate updates , deleting the first one from the card and reinstalling the 2nd , all without touching the camera screen or loosing power to the camera , for fear of deleting the original firmware and rendering the camera useless. But I was careful , and all worked well. This new firmware is said to make the touch screen more responsive and the shutter lag shorter. I really did not use the device with the old program , but the Slice responds very well to input.
A few things I really like are the large screen(decent resolution) , quick auto focus/shutter lag speed (compared to what I'm use too anyway) and cool look. Pictures are very good , even at my selected 10mp setting and the touch screen is fun , once you get past the very short learning curve. The camera will also save EVERY picture you take in it's internal memory , only miniture . You can retrieve them easily for tranfer , or just for looking at on the screen. If you like to print pics , or take movies , you'll want to buy an additional micro sd memory card , which I did (2gig for $8). But I have yet to print anything as my wife connects the Slice to my computer and it transfers the files automatically for viewing. Getting back to Face Book , you can pre select the pics you want to send on the touch screen for 'sharing' to the site of your choice. The Kodak software(which self installs when you plug in the supplied usd cable between the camera and computer) , directs your preference. Then it's automatic upon connection. So now my wife(not me) has 500 pictures and counting online. And I didn't even need to struggle with explaining to her how to use anything. It's that simple. For a point and shoot guy , it really is a fun device
The Kodak Slice 14.0 megapixel camera is well worth the money. It is an excellent point and shoot camera with the capability to share immediately with friends on Facebook. it has geotagging and a very large screen for reviewing pics. The touchscreen is very responsive. If anyone has a picture spur of the moment fetish such as i do then this camera is for you. I have been using this camera for a while now and it is by far the best that I've used next to my SLR Nikon. I am a part time photographer and when Im not on the job and dont have to fool around with bulky and extra equipment, this camera is excellent. In the past few months I have mannaged to expand my personal photos by about 2000 photos. It fits in my pocket and I take it everywhere. I am able to capture those special moments with my grandchildren and my dogs playing and having fun, that would otherwise be lost.
This camera is easy to use, has a wonderful zoom, and red eye reduction built in. This is a perfect addition for anyone who wants capture and keep their memories.
This camera is a GREAT camera. I love how you can tag people in the photos and anytime you take a picture of them...the camera says face recognized and it tags the photo.
I bought this product to replace my Kodak easyshare that I bought three or four years ago. I wanted an upgrade and this camera is slim, pretty, and VERY high quality. I would recommend you get this camera, you will not be disappointed. I also love how you can assign pictures to Facebook, Flickr, Kodak Gallery and even personal email addresses. This camera does a lot and the video feature is also a Great!!!
The touchscreen feature is the best!!! I don't have anything bad to say about this product. I absolutely LOVE this camera!!!
I didn't really like this camera. I admit i was impressed by all the features and the reasonable pricing but i should have never judged a book by its cover. Things i did like about the SLICE were the user interface. It was very simple and easy to use. Features like the Kodak App button made it very easy to upload photos to your computer and FB. But that's were the joyride ended. The first issue i noticed was the low quality pictures the Slice took. This was a big disappointment since this is a 14.0 megapixel camera. I had to take multiple shots before capturing a decent one. The camera also comes with an easy shoot mode that automatically adjust the camera which turned out to be the problem causing the blurry pictures. I was able to deal with this by manually adjusting the settings. The only problem with that is every time the camera is shut off it automatically goes back into Easyshoot mode so you have to reset every thing again this might not bother you but it bothered me especially when you need to take a quick photo. The other major problem i had was the touch screen. This might be a problem with other touch screen camera as well, but if you tap on too many things (like for uploading) the screen can become unresponsive and even freeze completely. But on a good note if you're looking for a good looking camera this is for you it is very stylish and does take good pictures; just not consistently.
Kodak has done it again. This camera is easy to use right out of the box. The touch screen is a great feature and love the storing album. Bought this camera for it's sleek design and nice features.Able to upload photos with ease and able to carry them around with me for quick review.
