I love this camera! It is so easy and fun to use! I recently had a Kodak Z740 stolen, which I loved, so I was looking for a replacement. I bought a Kodak z1285 but was unhappy with the picture quality. So I returned it and I started researching digital cameras, but I have always preferred Kodak. Anyway, when I found this camera and read a lot of reviews, (which were almost all very positive) I thought this might be the camera for me. I found this camera with some accessories on eBay and I thought I should get it before the holidays. I have been taking pictures every day and I have yet to take a bad picture. They all look great. Even the ones of my 6 years old son, who by the way, can never stay in the same place for more than a millisecond, because he only has 2 speeds, fast and stop. It even allows you to remove red eye, and lets you crop photos on the 3 inch screen. This really was not a feature that I needed because I have a computer program that does that, but it does make it nice for the wireless printer feature on my photo printer. I don't have to upload the pictures to make changes on the computer before printing so that is mighty impressive. I make photo collages and scrapbook and make photo gifts all the time so I love taking pictures and the less work that I have to do to make those pictures awesome the better. If you are looking for a reasonably priced camera with stress free features that takes great pictures I would recommend this camera. It is very user friendly and fun to use as well. The video works well to but keep in mind it is not a camcorder. However I did video tape my daughter’s entire Christmas pageant on it which turned out well, and the batteries lasted all the way through the hour program, and I am still taking pictures on them, so it does not eat battery power. Just make sure you are using the right kind of battery. If you do not have a rechargeable brand, go for a lithium battery made for digital cameras, they are usually about $10.00 a pair. You will have to replace regular AA batteries very often. The lithium batteries will last a long time. In my old Kodak camera I only had to buy one about every four months, and I used my camera daily. All in all this is the best camera you will probably find for the money.

My opinion rollercoastered with this camera, bummed out, then not so.
It eats batteries up. I used Eneloop rechargeables, and they would last about an hour, then the low battery Icon came on. However I could use it for quite awhile before it stopped working. The telephoto lens moves quick, so the camera loses focus, and you have to reacquire the image. The position of the zoom is awkward for me. It is so close to the eyepiece (I just prefer it over the screen). Zooming out and back is difficult to get my thumb on the rocker switch. I like to protect my investment with a uv lens. But the setup is ridiculous. I bought a lens and an adapter. It is a nutty tube then the filter screws on to it. The camera lens then goes back and forth inside this stupid tube. With no zoom, it has a port hole effect on the pictures. I threw it away. The flash is ok, but like all small digital cameras, not effective enough.
Now after all that, the camera amazes me. I love the panoramic feature. It takes great movies, though I don’t like the mov format. The camera has many features, all of which I have not explored. I bought it for a trip to Disney World. And I have to admit it took great pictures.
All in all I am happy with the camera. Especially the price, $160 @ auction, of course at Disney World it seems the Nikon D70 – D80 was all the rage. So the bottom line is the camera is packed with features and is a fun camera to use. And after two weeks at Disney World, I still haven’t explored all the features…HD pic etc.
I love the HD video capability in my camera. It shoots in HD wide screen format. Awesome! Also, the photo quality is superb along with the fact that it has a steadycam feature. So, if I move a little the shot is still clear, even when I use the zoom which happens to be 12x1. The camera has so many features, I can't list them all. One thing it does is, if I shoot a three shot panorama, it will automatically stitch them together. To me, this camera is just one step below a full blown professional rig. I can even get a wide angle lens attachment. The drawbacks are the cables are exclusive to Kodak and are much more expensive than they should be. Also, the sound when playing back a video on the camera itself is very low even when the sound level is set on high. I did have to send the first one back and get a replacement, but even though this camera is refurbished, it comes with a one year warranty from Kodak, just like a brand new one. Can't beat that!
After carefully looking around and sorting through all the different cameras, I settled on this one. It was a "display unit" and I was unsure about purchasing it. After looking at the "cheaper" refurbed units, I purchased the display model. SOOOOOOOOO happy I did. I have purchased refurbed items in the past and I have had mixed results.
Let me tell you one thing...this camera takes great pictures. You can select 2MP up to 10MP. It has so many settings, plan to spend a few hours tinkering with it. I got great pictures of humming birds flying and sitting. I zoomed all the way in from about 12 feet and got GREAT up close pictures in GREAT detail.
Was able to use the HD video with great ease. It is very stable and produces a great clear video. That is merely a bonus in my opinion.
-Easy to use. Read the manual regarding settings and you can take great pics practically right out of the box
-LCD shows what each setting will do...i.e...when you select the sport setting it tells you to use it for objects in motion. I liked that.
-Fits the hand nicely and no finger over the lens unless you really have large fingers :-)
-12X zoom. Amazing zoom without using another lens.
-LARGE LCD. It is bigger than I have used in the past.
-Clear HD videos
-It eats batteries. HOWEVER, it probably is from the LCD. You get the same look from the sight glass, so you could save battery power by turning off the LCD. I don't know more about energy drain so I am merely guessing.
-While the camera fits your hand nicely, it is a little bulky. It is def not a deal breaker, but it has a fair amount of girth.
While I have owned this camera less than a week, I am fairly impressed with it. Upgrading from a compact camera to a larger one like this will take a little adjusting, but well worth it.
I know I haven't really hit everything, but this is mostly my first impression, which is VERY important. Kodak has won me over on the first impression.
The camera came with a 4 GB memory card and I have purchased an additional 16GB stick. With a full 10MP I took a 60 second video and about 200 pictures and it used about 20% of the card. You have to remember that those were MAX settings though. 6-8MP is good for most shots since they will have to be reduced in size anyway.
In closing...if you want a good camera for around $200...this is your camera. I looked at others but this one has it all.
