The camera is light weight and very easy to use. The price makes it a great value for the product you get! 14.0 MP with an 8x optical zoom can't be beat for the price!
"Years ago I had a purchased Kodak cameras for both my mother and mother in law. They worked very well, and always took good pictures. When my old coolpix bit the dust I looked to Kodak for a good replacement. I did some research and found the M580 to be the best bang for the buck. I purchased a new one from a dealer on eBay. When I recieved the M580 it often would not turn on. It would say "lens obstructed remove lens cap", when there is no lens cap. I sent it back to Kodak and they repaired it. Now my issue is that the auto focus rarely works. Normally you would press the shoot button half way and it should auto focus. Most of the time mine shows a red AF and I have to point the camera to something closer first to get the green focus box then drag the green box over to what I'm trying to focus on. It is very frustrating and time consuming. From my research I know most people had good luck with the M580 so I must have gotten a lemon? Having recently recieved from the factory repair center, I don't want to send it back and have to do without a camera over the holidays. 2 warranty issues on a new camera = very dissapointed."
Very easy to use, size is appropriate for every day use love the quick charge on the item, takes very clear and nice pictures easy to download to computer with included accessories, would definitely recommend this particular product!
This is the second M580 I own and I am about to buy a third to use 2 of them for 3D photo and video. This is a beautiful little compact camera with 8X optical zoom, which is hard to find in a small camera. The optics are excellent, and the resolution in wide screen and HD video is very good. The only drawback is the zoom in video mode is very quick, but this has not been a serious problem in the DVD videos I make. The display is bright, even in sunlight, the setup is easy to manage and the menus are logical. Changing modes is relatively quick. I prefer this camera over my HDD video cam for ease of operation and convenience, and the quality of picture and sound are just as good.
