|Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1 computer speakers offer a significantly upgraded listening experience compared to built-in desktop or laptop PC speakers; in fact these Klipsch computer speakers offer performance and sound that rival home stereo systems. The system includes four 2-way satellite speakers, a 2-way center channel speaker and a subwoofer featuring a pair of 8-inch side firing woofers for powerful bass reproduction. These multimedia computer speakers will turn any computer into a home entertainment powerhouse. Computers are frequently used to play video games, listen to music or watch movies. While their displays are capable of showing high definition content, their built-in speakers lack the power and sound quality of a professional system such as these Klipsch computer speakers. With attractively designed cases, the four 60-watt satellites with horn tweeters and mid-bass drivers look futuristic and offer excellent sound; they may be optionally wall mounted. These Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1 computer speakers base-reflex subwoofer is housed in an oversized case for deep, rumbling lows with lower distortion. As multimedia computer speakers, this system is capable of handling anything a computer can throw at it. The BASH amplifier is capable of driving a total of 500-watts of power through the subwoofer (at maximum burst) making these Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1 computer speakers more than sufficient to meet the needs of any computer owner.|

The Klipsch Pro Media system is the best there is out there and has ever been produced for the price you can grab them at. The natural tones are the closest to actual reproduction as it gets. This system has powerful bass natural mids and, brilliant highs thanks to the horn tweeter.
The built in crossover does a great job splitting the signal for surround and the delays are perfect. You can run these flat on ur EQ right out of the box and let them do all of the work.
The control pod does a tremendous job for shaping the sound to your liking. The dual woofers shake the house with deep low bone crushing bass but also delivers a rich smooth tone to even out the bottom end of the sound spectrum.
The frequency response on this set is optimum. It has the sound and reproduction of much larger and very costly speaker sets like the Infinity,or Klipsch home set-ups. You cant go wrong with this system.
500 watts of beautiful sounds that go from a whisper to a party in a flick of the volume control knob.
you will have your neighbors beating your door down to turn it down while you get lost in your musical world of mixed frequencies and listen in utter awe at the clarity and pure power of the sound coming from the system.
all in all a great system that received rave reveiws when they were first produced and still receiving another one from me from being one of the lucky ones to be able to grab a set of these superb speaker sets yet once again in my life. wonderning how and why i ever let the first set i had go....
I bought my first pair of Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1's at Best Buy around 2001.Back then a lot of different companies were targeting the computer gaming industry, but soon abandoned the high end, high output computer speakers due to low demand and high price tag. I loved my Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1's the system preformed great. About three to four years later the subwoofer quit working, that’s when I did some investigating and found out that Klipsch had an issue with heat in the sub enclosure. The enclosure had no way to move air to keep the circuit board cool and the factory resistors and other components burned up after a long period of use. I was going to have the sub electrical panel repaired but I didn't know where to take it, so the subwoofer box went in the dumpster and I kept the satellites, and the controller. About two years ago I bought another set from Ebay for about $235.00 in a buy it now auction. I found a guy named Henry from Ebay that sells an upgrade kit that includes a fan and higher rated resistors that you can install yourself if you are good at soldering, or for around $90.00 Henry will install the upgrade kit and ship the panel back to you. My first set of Klipsch's that I bought on Ebay sounded great, so I bought a second set on Ebay for about $250.00 in a buy it now auction, and sent that board to Henry for a upgrade. Now I am running a Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1 system on my self-built PC and I tied in another Klipsch sub box using the SWS Link RCA jack located on the back of the sub enclosure panel which gives you four 8" woofers. My system rocks now and every window in the house rattles. When I am not using my speakers I keep the power turned off to save energy and lengthen the life of the circuit board.
The Promedia Ultra is simply an awesome system. In pure terms of audio quality there is not a thing that really compares to it at its price range in both the multimedia category, and the home audio category. I cannot understand why Klipsch quit producing them. The GMX has nothing on it or its lesser Promedia sets. For as good as the Promedia Ultra's are, there are a number of draw backs to this system. One, they are getting difficult to find these days. There are no new ones really. The second draw back, and the most problematic is that this sytsem accepts no modern digital inputs. A Digital converter can be purchased but the price is quite high. That is where the logitechs become competitive with this system. They do support a full array of modern and digital inputs, which allow them to be connected to a variety of setups, not just a computer system. But in terms of sound quality, these are unmatched in this range.
I am not going to cover e-bay bought stuff, eBay is eBay and you can and will get stung.
I got my set of the Ultra 5.1's from the factory they were refurbished. I love them; they are the best I have ever had.
Until 2006 they were the best 5.1's on the market. However, the Logitech Z5500's are better. IF you can get a set of Ultra's 5.1's for no more than $175 bucks, DO IT. IF you have to pay more than that go with the Logitech’s.
The Ultra's are a fabulous speaker however their was one fatal flaw. The Bash Subwoofer blew out. It happened to me after 5 years it WILL happen to you.
Klipsch is the best of companies and the worst and worst of companies. When they came out with the 4.1's they were swamped with orders. They never really caught up, at times they were a pain to deal with.
IF the Ultra's did not have the SW flaw, and Klipsch offered them at $200.00 they would still rule; but alas they don’t.
Bose is overrated, and if you buy less than the Logitech’s, you are more worried about money than sound.
I hope this helps.
I'M VERY FAMILIAR WITH KLIPSCH SPEAKER AS I HAVE 11 IN MY HOME THEATER SYSTEM POWERED BY A DENON 5800 7.1 AUDIO/VIDEO RECEIVER. I'VE OWNED THE PROMEDIA ULTRA 5.1 FOR ABOUT 5 WEEKS. UNFORTUNATELY BECAUSE OF PERSONAL HEALTH ISSUES I WAS NOT ABLE TO CONNECT THEM TO MY PC TILL YESTERDAY 6-9-12. I KNOW THE SYSTEM IS A GREAT SYSTEM BECAUSE I INSTALLED ONE FOR A FRIEND OF MINE ABOUT 7 YEARS AGO. UNFORTUNATELY WHEN I TURNED MINE ON THERE WAS NO SOUND. WHEN I HOOKED IT UP I DOUBLE CHECKED ALL CONNECTIONS AND THEY WERE FINE. I USE TO INSTALL HOME THEATER SYSTEMS FOR A LIVING WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, PLUS I'M ALSO A COMPUTER NETWORKING TECH. AS OF THIS POINT I HAVE NOT HAD A CHANCE TO FULLY TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM. SO I DON'T KNOW IF MY AUDIO FEED FROM THE PC IS GOOD OR IF THE PROBLEM IS WITHIN THE KLIPSCH UNIT ITSELF. I WILL CHECK MY PC FIRST AND SEE IF I HAVE OUTPUT. AFTER THAT I WILL JUST HAVE TO TAKE IT STEP BY STEP. KLISPCH ARE GREAT SPEAKERS SO IF YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO GET SOME JUMP ON IT. AS WITH ANYTHING IN LIFE IT MAY JUST NEED A FEW TWEEKS. I WILL POST AN ADDITIONAL UPDATE ONCE I HAVE THE PROBLEM SOLVED. HAPPY UPCOMING FATHER'S DAY TO ALL. RICH C.
