Movie synopsis
Multitalented comedian Martin Short brings his character Jiminy Glick, the Butte, Montana entertainment television reporter, to the big screen in the comedy JIMINY GLICK IN LALAWOOD. A little sweaty and a lot excitable, Jiminy's finally headed to the big time: the Toronto Film Festival. With his wife Dixie (Jan Hooks) and twin sons Matthew and Modine in tow, Jiminy is poised to realize his celebrity-worshipping dreams by becoming an industry player. After he scores an interview with reclusive, bad-boy actor Ben DiCarlo (Corey Pearson), Jiminy is catapulted to sudden fame and everyone wants in on the action. A famous actress on the decline, Miranda Coolidge (Elizabeth Perkins), seeks Jiminy out, but their new friendship appears to have a deadly result. Can gentle journalist Glick have a hidden violent side?Short, who co-wrote this film with Paul Flaherty and Michael Short, first introduced Jiminy Glick via his Comedy Central television program PRIMETIME GLICK. Here, in a feature-length film, Jiminy has ample room to skewer the pervasive culture of celebrity worship while tying in knowledge of movies and Hollywood history. Staying with his family in a creepy hotel far from the glitterati, with director David Lynch (Short again) as a quasi-guide and narrator, Jiminy navigates the treacherous waters of fame with hilarious results.

"[A] giddy, gassy piece of lunatic fluff that recounts Jiminy's rise to fame..."

"There are plenty of laughs amid the bevy of star cameos..."
USA Today - Claudia Puig (05/06/2005)

Better Then Expected & Always A Fan

Review For: Jiminy Glick in La La Wood (DVD, 2005)

I could not pass up seeing a Jiminy Glick, though my expectations were low. Short has done a tremendous job o f turning his character into a very funny feature film. The first 2/3 were spot on in writing, acting & comedy.

The film got thin for me towards the end, but I find this often the case with both films & novels. Ending it seems to mere the most difficult to craft. Another school says its the middle where the thinnest parts can be found. I found the middle part of this film surprisingly solid.

This is the first time I recall seeing the rest of Glick's family developed. I'll leave the story untold so you can enjoy with no preconceived ideas.

If you enjoy Martin Short or just his Glick portrayal then should see this film for sure. There are many celebrity Cameos throughout & they add much to the laughs rather then being just someone famous to spot.

Unhappy Customer

Review For: Jiminy Glick in La La Wood (DVD, 2005)

I thought this movie was a comedy with clean fun like the shows I have seen on t.v. Jiminy Glick is funny when he interviews the stars. I didn't finish watching the La La Wood movie. My daughter was sitting in on it and the language and sexual connotations are bad. Needless to write, I am disappointed in it and wish I had not purchased it.

Glick -- Ick!

Review For: Jiminy Glick in La La Wood (DVD, 2005)

The Comedy Central series was hilarious, but the film, despite a few laughs, is base, profane, dull, and unfunny. Base and profane are fine with me (BAD SANTA is terrific), but not when they're dull and unfunny.

Jiminy Glick

Review For: Jiminy Glick in La La Wood (DVD, 2005)

I love Martin Short. That's why I bought this DVD. I have enjoyed everything I have seen him in. But I have to say, I was a little disappointed in this movie. I love the character, but in smaller doses, and when Martin Short improvises more. This was too scripted and over the top for me. There were some cute things, but overall I would not recommend it.

Review For: Jiminy Glick in La La Wood (DVD, 2005)

It tried to be edgy and a few times it worked. It's a different type of humor and is a slow pace as Jiminy Is a character , but not an action star. I watched it , and it makes yo laugh in places. Overall , its pretty average. I wouldnt say its awful , but I cant honestly say it was good either. At the price, you can get it ffor in very good condition it's worth a look to decide yourself. If you know the character Jiminity Glick and like him it is certainly worth a peek.
