"Good-looking design; high-quality audio; low noise, low-light video."
Low-resolution video; needs built-in ND filter; no viewfinder.
"As a scaled-down version of JVC's GZ-HD7, the GZ-HD3 ditches some of the fancier features, but its price is still higher than we'd like for this camcorder."

After Using this camera The followeing review is: The camera is very nice looking and has a lot of features most cameras have such as an easy mode for those who have not used a camera before to advanced modes for the pro or novices.
The picture quality is out of this world with such sharpness and detail. if you are looking to do some kind of indie film to say a documentary this is the camera for you at a low afordable cost.
Is very complicated in the menu for setting the camera up. if you dont know how to white balance a camera this camera will be dificult to use. the camera at times does blur when following a fast moving object. it tends to go out of focus and back in. remedy is to go to manual focus when shooting say airplanes in the sky.
Camera is difficult when it come to the on board light the button is easy to hit on accident. its located on the right side where you hand rest to hold camera up.
Camera breaks up the movie you shoot into clips and is diffacult to set in menu if your not use to menu.
Over all its a great camera and has many shoot modes such as movie and tv as examples you can also set up the sharpness value to set the camera for certain record modes.
to me this camera is a dream at a low price for a true professional high definition look. cant beat the price as i only paid 266.00 for mine.
most professionl HD cameras are well over in the thousands a standard one would cost you over 5K.
I RECORD A SWEET 16 PARTY WHIT THIS CAMERA.
I PURCHASE ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT LIKE LIGHTS MICROPHONE WIDE ANGLE VIEWS LENS . SO AT THE END OF MY PRODUCTION EDIT WHIT PINNACLE STUDIO ULTIMATE. THE RESULTS END UP SO GOOD THE HYBRID PRO SCAN SYSTEM IS NICE AND THE FEATURES ON THE MENU ARE EASY AND HELP A LOT FOR INSTANCE THE WHITE BALANCE IF YOU ARE INDOORS OF CHURCH AND GO OUT FOR FILMING THE SUN LIGHT CHANGE AND YOU NEED TO BE PREPARE CLICK THE FUNCTION BUTTON AND CHANGE THE W/B TO SUNNY STATE. ON 1420 HD FULL RESOLUTION DISK HARD DISK OF 60 GB GIVES YOU A 4 H RECORDING NON STOP I ONLY RECORD 1AHOUR .45 MIN BUT WILL BUY THE HD7 SHOULD BE BETTER BUT TO BEGIN I SUGGEST TO BUY THIS FULL HD 1429X1080 CAMERA.
Like - The built in hard drive
Love - easy to use, GREAT VIDEO AND STILL PICTURES.
Dislike - None.
I really didn't know what to expect when ordering this camcord from Japan. After I receieved the camera and software (really good software came with camcord) I was pleased. I would purchase a Japan product again with this type of savings. paid only $512. saved hundreds.
Also, had purchased a HD-DVD player before they went under and thought that I would not be able to ever use it again after they quit releasing movies in HD DVD format, until now. I use pinnacle suite software and that software allows to burn HD DVDs on a standard DVD and what a surpise. I didn't need new burner or have to purchase expensive media to burn on. I'm getting great DVD movies in HD with this camera and everyone thinks I'm a pro. These HD DVDs play in X Box 360 gaming consoles
Quality is good, battery also good if you get the more hours.
The only minus of this JVC is, there was not for Mac User. JVC did not make any software for Mac. So i have to convert everything from my PC than i brought the files to my mac for editing purpose.
I love this camera! Best video camera I have ever owned. Besides the bad low light recording (in most cameras)this camera is easy to use, and has great picture quality as well as video recording quality. Big bonus in the external mic port which allows you to use an external microphone for recording excellent sound. The internal mic is equally excellent as I have done tests in comparison to a few high end microphones and besides direction focus the internal mic is very capable of capturing good sound with decent range. 3CCD sensors too - (Sony 3CCD cams start at $1000+) Would love to have the FULL HD / this has 1420x1080- but this is the best camera for the money out there!
