Iron Man-Blu-Ray-Great!!

Okay, first off if you own a Web Enabled Blu-ray player like a PS3, you're going to have to wait a long time before you can watch this Blu-ray after you pop it in. Why? Some pinhead executive at the movie studio/blu-ray production house thought it would be cute to require you to download some stupid software you're probably not going to use for "extra features" BEFORE you can even get to the main menu. This means that each time I pop this Blu-ray into a new player, like if I take it to a friend's house, I'm going to have to tell my friend(s): okay let's just wait an hour then we can watch the movie. This is completely and totally absurd. I hope whoever decided this was a good idea gets fired.

After about an hour and a half, I was able to watch this movie though. It's a really great movie. It's right up there with WALL*E and The Dark Knight. It has a very fun comic book feel to it, while not being absurdly stupid. If you can suspend your disbelief for 120 some odd minutes, it's a great ride.

Robert Downey Jr. is a great Tony Stark. When I first heard he was cast as Iron Man, I thought "yeah right! This movie's gonna suck." But I was very wrong. He pulls off the ladies man/billionaire playboy/hot shot role very well. But this is only half of the movie: The other half: Iron Man action scenes are just flat out cool. The poses/angles they choose and CGI work are all great. This is a first rate production.

Also, I didn't know who his assistant was before the credits rolled but she looked familiar (Turns out it was Gwyneth Paltrow) and she made a really interesting character too, for a supporting role. You even have Jeff ("The Dude") Bridges in there doing a great job playing Stark's second in command.

Oh, and when the credits roll, don't turn off the movie. There's a little scene after all the credits that fans of the comics and fans of this movie shouldn't miss.


Summary:
The Blu-Ray gets a 1 star for the incompetence of whomever decided it was a good idea to make people download something before they could even see the main menu.

The Movie Gets 5 Stars for great execution - cast/acting, storyline, effects, and action scenes. Dare I say: This is the best Marvel Comics movie to date.

The Origin Story of Iron Man is told!

The title of review says it all. Tony Stark , a warmonger of sorts, demonstrates his most recent accomplishment, The Jericho! The United States Armed Forces are interested but,also a Militant Terrorist group operating in the area! While en route back to the Air Force base, Starks' convoy is attacked & completely destroyed. Tony is injured also in the insuing mayhem.
A prisoner named Yet Sin, saves Tony's life , by creating an electro magnet hooked up to a car battery to prevent the shrapnel from entering his heart & both are forced to work together for the group to construct a Jericho with Stark Industries materials!
Tony has a better idea, escape! With the help & sacrifice of Yet Sin, Tony constructs a suit of iron, to become known to us as The Mark 1, avenges Yet Sins' death, destroys the camp site & escapes to secure his freedom!
The Air Force search teams find Tony & return him to the United States, where he decides to shutdown the weapons manufacturing capabilities of Stark Industries, to everyone's surprise! He has better ideas to make the world safer! His way! He creates the Mark 2 suit & after a barrage of tests, finally produces his ultimate creation The Mark 3 suit, by then we call hime Iron Man!
The action in this film does not sag at all & keeps the viewer engrossed for the 2 hours plus running time! This is a welcome addition to anyones' blu-ray collection! Highly recommended.

A great movie that is up with Spiderman & X-men!

I have to admit that I'm a comic book guy. I'll eventually go and either see or rent most of the comic book flick's that come out.

When I went to go watch Iron Man I knew the history of the character and I used to read some of the comic books. I wasn't expecting much and I thought the movie would be around the same caliber as Daredevil.

I must say I was blown away by this movie and by this disk. The update of the character to be captured in a "desert warfare" by "militants in caves" brings the movie into today's reality.

The choice of Downey Jr. as a billionaire playboy is also awesome. :) He brings Tony Stark that arrogant quality with the puppy dog eyes that makes it work!

The movie is great and easy to follow. We can relate to the character because they are not some kid with super powers but a guy who suddenly develops a soul and has the resources to do something about it!

The surprise ending after the credits is also awesome. :)

Iron Man Blu Ray

I havent even watched this movie in Blu Ray yet, but I've already seen the movie in regular format, so I know it's going to be great. I don't usually get into superhero movies like Spiderman, Hulk, etc. Primarly because they dont seem real. I mean a guy getting bitten by a spider and suddenly he is one? COME ON!! But this one is a little more realistic. I mean, in theory, if you had a ton of knowledge and you were a billionaire, then you could design a suit like this and become Iron Man youreself. Rob Downey Jr's best movie ever.

What can you say about this movie, its awesome!!!! This movie definitely fits on the same hand as the best comic book movies of all time. Robert Downer Jr IS Tony Stark, a roll in which he was born to play. Nevermind Fantastic Four, The Punisher, Xmen 3, Daredevil or any other lame comic movie this is the one, well besides maybe both new Batman movies and Spiderman 1 & 2.
