) Indeed, this is an old processor and you can definitely buy a better one. However, for this much money, you get a processor with 4MB cache - each core has 2 MB. This processor is performance oriented but its best advantage is that it is way cheaper than the Core 2 Duo equivalents.

Had an older Celeron that always seemed to running at >80% with the fan going full bore even with just the occasional internet surfing and some accounting work. I wasn't ready to replace the computer just yet, so I picked this up instead. If your motherboard doesn't support Core 2 processors, then this is a great upgrade to breathe new life into that old PC.
