A great item! very reasonably priced and easy to use, It HAS MOST OF THE FEATURES THAT YOU FIND IN MORE EXPENSIVE MODELS SUCH AS instant update, attractions and areas of interest, gas stations etc. It even talks! The only feature that I see in more expensive items of this type that I do not see in this model is the traffic re-route feature that shows routes to avoid congestion. I have a radio that tells me that for free! LOL overall I would highly reccomend it to anyone who wants/needs a good GPS but does not want to spend a ton of money on one.
My Mio 520c died after less than 3 years. It was a pricey unit and I liked its many features. Mio has NO repair service and offered only a swap for another model at a price I could get anywhere on the net. I bought a refurb Insignia. I miss the bells and whistles, but it is fast and does all the basics well. Many of the neg reviews I read were obviously by users unfamiliar with its operation. For 1/6 the price of my old gps - Im very satisfied.
UPDATE - UNIT FAILED AFTER 4 MONTHS USE
I have just bought my first GPS, the NAV01. I bought mine refurb. here on ebay for $35.99 on an auction. Man!, what a steal! I got the unit, 2g SD card, car charger and windshield mount, all for $36 bucks! The unit is very easy to use and set up. Other posts on here say signal problems...., This morning it was pouring so hard you couldn't see across the street, so, I tested the unit out. Unfortunatly I had to run to the store, about 5 miles away and it never skipped a beat. It did take the route calulation about 20 seconds longer than normal. I see no faults in this basic GPS unit, And If that is what your looking for at a low price, this is the unit for you. I love my GPS.
It's a great GPS, good battery life and easy to use. It saves destinations and recalculates routes practically immediately after deviating from the set path. Has day and night features and voice play back to let you know your next direction. GPS sometimes messes up at night when you're already on the road and not in a parked position, but it's easily correctable.
I bought this unit for the express purpose of using it only in Europe where my wife and I spend about 4-5 months each year. This is my third Garmin GPS and I have always been very satisfied with Garmins products. I have had occasion to use a couple of other name brand units, but must say I like Garmin the best by far. This particular unit has many of the 'bells & whistles' that one would expect on a 'pricier' unit and everything works perfectly. I have not had one problem navigating aroud Europe be it in the city or the coutryside. The only things I would like would be a larger screen and a little more volume and clarity in the 'voice' dept.
