One of my favorite 80's flicks, Innerspace still held up after all those years!
In 1987 Steven Spielberg as a producer once again teamed with Gremlins director Joe Dante to give us yet another extremely entertaining adventure comedy.
Dennis Quaid as Tuck Pendleton is part Han Solo, part Hal Jordan. Martin Short was at the top of his game as Jack Putter, and Meg Ryan is stunning as ever. Throw in the 007esque villain, Igo, and the ludicrous arms dealer, the Cowboy, and you've got a recipe for pure entertainment.
Tuck Pendleton is a washed up Navy pilot who "could have been one of the best". In an effort to reclaim the glories of days past, he volunteers for a highly dangerous and experimental shrinking procedure in which he and a submersible pod (also experimental) were meant to be made microscopic and injected into a test rabbit named Bugs to study biology from the inside.
Things go wrong and the head scientist is forced to hide the miniaturized Pendleton and the super-secret high-technology accompanying him from the bad guys... inside Jack Putter. Hilarity and adventure ensue.
There are a few of what I like to call "check your brain at the door" moments, but they are so well placed and move the story along so smoothly that I didn't notice them back in '87, and was more than willing to overlook and forgive them now.
If you're on the fence about Innerspace and you love to be entertained, get off now and hang on for this thrill ride chock-full of belly laughs.
And tiny bad guys.
Martin Short is hilarious in a nervous reck as Jack Putter,Dennis Quaid is a hot shot navy pilot in experimential miniaturization project.Their lives will be twisted as one.In an off the wall funny comedy and at that time 1987.(Best Visual effects acadamy award).Also with big names like producer Steven Spielberg and co/actor Meg Ryan how can you go wrong.It is a must see especially if you havent seen it.One of my must have favorates of the 80's movies.
This movie is a very good comedy! It is one of my favorite Martin Short movies! He provides most of the laughs as Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan add all of the droopy love drama. It has some pretty cool special effects and adds a little of the 'Fantastic Voyage" movie flavor! I recommend it for it's light hearted but good amount of comedy excellence!
Martin Short, Dennis Quaid, and Meg Ryan are wonderful. Martin Short is hilarious, he's a very funny hypochondriac. Its never good though when voices are coming from inside a hypochondriac, that just sends them over the deep. But, it gives us a great comedy.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE. ONE OF DENNIS QUAIDS BEST. I THINK THIS IS THE MOVIE HE AND MEG RYAN MET ON AND LATER MARRIED, BUT IT IS A GOOD ADAPTATION OF THE OLD FANTASTIC VOYAGE WHERE THEY SHRINK A MAN DOWN TO GERM SIZE AND PUT HIM IN A LIVING ORGANISM, BUT OF COURSE IT ALL GOES WRONG
