Movie synopsis
Superheros Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl were the world's greatest crime fighters, saving lives and battling evil each day. Fifteen years later, these two animated adventure superheros, now known as Bob and Helen, are forced to adopt civilian identities and move to the suburbs with their three kids, Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack. Wanting to get back into the heat of the action, "The Incredibles" follows Bob as he gets his chance to be Mr. Incredible again and travel to a remote island for a top-secret assignment. Soon he discovers in this four-disc set that it will take a super family effort to rescue the world from total destruction. "The Incredibles" mixes animated adventure crime fighting battles with the everyday battle of raising a family with a teenage daughter while keeping their powers concealed. Special features are included with "The Incredibles" four-disc set, such as a filmmaker's roundtable, the Pixar Story Artists, and a fun studio story about Gary's Birthday. Other features included are the creation of the animation for the end credits and an interactive feature called "The New Nomanisan Island," a Top Secret Redevelopment Plan.

Editorial reviews

"[V]isually splendid and ethically serious....The movie is also refreshingly quiet, using music sparingly and showing as much attention to aural nuance as it does to visual detail."
New York Times - A. O. Scott (11/05/2004)

"[A] piece of animation that's involving across a spectrum of comedy, action, even drama....Blessedly funny, there is also a surprising air of poignancy about much of it..."
Los Angeles Times - Kenneth Turan (11/05/2004)

"[O]ne of the year's most clever and visually arresting computer-animated films, enlivened by a well-developed and credible cast of characters who just happen to be superheroes."
USA Today - Claudia Puig (11/05/2004)

"[A] great story, a rich micro-universe of pixel-driven cartoon characters with more depth, complexity, and emotional maturity than those in most live-action dramas....Indeed incredible."
Entertainment Weekly - Lisa Schwarzbaum (11/12/2004)

"[A] film that breaks fresh ground....Bird has crafted a film -- one of the year's best -- that doesn't ring cartoonish, it rings true."
Rolling Stone - Peter Travers (11/25/2004)

"[Bird's] ingenious self-penned script is heaving with brilliantly realised characters, snide putdowns and sharp one-liners that enhance the head-spinning action sequences with razor-sharp wit."
Uncut - Andrew Sumner (01/01/2005)

"[A] light comedy at heart....[The film] manages a great deal of genuine excitement..."
Sight and Sound - Kim Newman (01/01/2005)

"The storytelling is as witty as it is brisk."
Premiere - Glenn Kenny (02/01/2005)
